Adding a Fountain to Coleman 18x48

Hey guys,

So I picked up my first pool an 18x48 Coleman from Walmart to make sure I want a pool before doing something more permanent next year.

I would like to add a fountain to the pool I plan on doing this using 1" PVC pipe with some holes drilled in it. That being said I can not seem to find a way to connect PVC to the flex hose that comes with the pool. None of the adapters at my local Lowes will fit the thread size.

Does anyone know or a source for an adapter from the treaded pump/hoses to PVC?

You could get rid of the hose and hard pvc it to the pump. You can see how I did it in my sig. BUT I’m redoing the fountain so that I have a t joint and the entry of the water is in the center.

Although not meant for your type of pool, my husband "Skippy" built us a pretty nice fountain for cheap. Take a look in my signature line-

I made one similar to what you are describing and just used a hose clamp, and, unbelievably, it didn't leak.

Maddie, does the fountain (aeration) affect pool chemistry?

Yes, it helps raise the pH, but it also cools the pool down. I can deal with higher pH by using MA. I don't have enough ice cubes to cool the pool down. It was 95 degrees in the water the other day.

Hi! I know this is an old comment but I see you're you're active member still. I cannot for the lofe of me find your "signature line" mentioned in this comment.

I have a coleman 18 and a fountain without a connection piece. It seems I need a 2.5" threaded female side to a 1.5 threaded female side, but the part doesn't exist? I've been to 3 pool stores and 2 hardware stores and no one can tell me what dang part I need!! Your my only hope!
