Add chlorine with cover on?

Hi all,

So I ran out of time and didn't get what I wanted to done today and I want to know what's best.

I raised my water level and got my pump running but didn't get the winter cover off yet. It looks like rain for the next few days.

Should I add some bleach or just leave the water alone until I get the cover off?

I need to pull a sample to see what is what but it's starting to get warm out so in getting nervous.

If the pump is running and you can pour in some liquid chlorine around the cover then do it.

If the pump is running, adding 3-5 ppm FC worth of bleach is always good.

I just checked and I guess I still have 4.2ppm fc left from when I closed it.

I guess cold water and no sunlight means chlorine stays?

Is it normal to find a decent amount of FC in a pool that's been covered for 5+ months?

You certainly can find FC in a pool that has been winterized and fully covered.

The CYA may be there. Circulate the pool really well and test.
