Acid and base demand tests

I’ve been using the Taylor 2006c test kit and tfp methods for over a year. The pool has actually been trouble free! I’ve had to replace a few bottles from the testing kit but two I have never used. What exactly do you use the acid and base testing kits for and should I be using them?

Instead of plugging pH and TA and volume into poolmath to get a dose, you add drops until the pH turns the color you want, then do a bunch of math to figure out how much of what to add. It's more work, which is why the TF100 doesn't have those two. The only real utility is if pH is off-the-scale high and you want to get it right in one shot. But it's still a bunch of math.
