Above ground deck/steps

So I have a new pool, about 2 ft inground, and I'm trying to assess my options for getting in and out.

Anyone know if they make A frame steps that are for semi inground?

I am leaning towards wedding cake steps in the pool and having that attached to a potential deck or other landing that may get built, and recommendations for steps that can also be sat on?

If I build a deck around a part of pool is it typical to put the deck above the pool, so it goes over the edge rail, or should it be flush with the pool height and stay on the out side edge of the top rail?

Are the top rails designed to bear the weight of people stepping on them or sitting? This would be my reasoning for having the decking over the edge, up to the water line.

I don't know about semi-inground, but for my completely above ground pool my husband is building steps for outside which will attach to some of those pool steps that are meant to be bolted to a deck. Maybe you could do something similar until you get your deck built.

We installed our pool last year and knew we needed a better entry/exit solution pretty quickly. We decided to build a deck this spring before swim season got into full swing. There’s a link to my deck build in my signature, which we just completed a few weeks ago (Memorial day weekend). Our pool is also down in the ground on one side about 22”. We put the deck on the low side which makes it a low deck. The boards meet the top rail of the pool (same height) with enough gap to get fingers in to put on the winter cover (or change the liner should that ever be necessary). I don’t recommend the wedding cake steps. They breed algae. We endured months of trouble with them last summer so we ditched ours after one horrible season. This year we got a ladder that we attached to our deck. It has a little platform at the top to prevent weight on the top rail of the pool. You can see pics of it in my deck build thread.
