I gave this some serious consideration recently.
Where I live pool construction is very expensive, I'd like to do an above ground, or partially in-ground to help with the cost, but my spouse doesn't like above ground, even if we go higher end, like a radiant pool. She did like the modpool though. I think the window and the autocover were part of what she liked.
Ultimately I couldn't bring myself to do it-- It's a metal container with a lining in it-- how long will that lining last? You can re-line it I guess, but it's not like there are a bunch of people out there to help you with that. So who works on a pool like this if something is wrong and you don't want to DIY?
The walls are not flat and straight, they're ridged, seems like that would be hard to clean, and hard to get a robot to do a good job too. You can brush it by hand of course, but even that might be a little funny with ridges, and wouldn't you need a deck all the way around to do a good job with the brushing?
The window looks super cool, but will it still look great in a few years? Will the edges around it rust and leak?
8 x 20 is a pretty small pool. 8 x 40 is a bit better, more like a lap pool, but how well does a single skimmer do in an 8 x 40 pool? How well does it circulate?
We priced it out, and if I remember properly it was going to be about $55k for an 8 x 20 here (with the autocover, delivery, concrete pad, etc...). $55k for something that might not last 10 years. Also, if it doesn't look good over time, it might be a detriment to your property rather than a benefit. You could get a similarly sized and outfitted vinyl or fiberglass pool for a relatively similar price here, and concrete would be about $75k. When comparing like to like in terms of size and features, I couldn't see the benefit.
