I have never seen anything like that in an Intellichlor or any other SWG. I would suspect that that broke loose from something before the cell. What material is it? What is before the cell that might have that part?
Definitely looks like the bypass out of the heater. You should be able to pull the inlet/outlet piping off the heater and see if that is missing between the two. There should be a spring somewhere too.
the last time i cranked up the heater...it was making all sorts of loud noises. I dont have a spa, and for the most part, we don't use the heater (the gas bill gets pretty expensive). Im not sure if im up for tackling it just yet, as still trying to learn the basics on the pool chemistry. .....im just glad it doesn't belong to the swg!
