New SW Austin Pool Build

another weird "morning deathstorm/afternoon sunshine" day. 6 hours after noon and the plumbing is done. I was promised gunnite on Monday. I wish they weren't skipping Friday/Saturday, but Kevin (the foreman) said they were unbelievably backed up.

I think all us Texans are in the same boat. Mine is really held up because of the rain too. Plus don't forget they have to get an inspection in there sometime. Has the city come and inspected the bonding and plumbing yet on your job?

No gunnite today. The CoA inspector came and passed the plumbing/bonding. I haven't been promised a new gunnite date and I'm getting annoyed again. We are now at Day 41 since the CoA inspector approved the layout onsite and the PB scheduled the dig.

One of my neighbors used Cody and had some kind of contract where Cody would deduct a certain amount from the price for every day over 30 they went. I could be getting a cheap pool with that kind of contract right about now.

You've waited a long time for this day! I know you have more to go, but this is a huge milestone. Like you said, it finally looks like a pool! You may be loading the final shot as I type. If not, let us see it tomorrow. From what I can see, it looks like a good job. Are you happy with it?

Another big step closer!!! Take care. Suz.

Congrats on gunnite! The dog keeps looking like that's a big ole water bowl!

I finally got a response from my foreman a few days ago about the shallow end slope problem, which was basically "I'm waiting to talk to the gunnite co. owner, will probably need to repour to fix the slope". That was a load off my mind, since I had envisioned going to court over this if they refused to acknowledge/fix the problem. I still don't have a definite fix date, but it will have to be soon, since the only things really left are the electrical conduit run, the deck and the plaster.

They've done the coping, tile and equipment install over the last week. My existing deck is all torn up where they started cutting out room for the drain and new deck. Hopefully that gets fixed soon, since it's a pain to walk on.

That tile is so pretty! I love it!

Good news that they acknowledge that there is a problem. Did you get that in writing? (I am being serious)

I like the equipment pad. Make sure to print out that pic and write what each pipe and such does and goes to.

The foreman sent the gunnite co. out today to fix the slope and it's still messed up. They broke to the main slope at about 79" instead of 94" and the slope is 10" through the shallow end instead of 6". They fixed about half of the slope problem, but didn't do the break right.

The gunnite crew was out here just as long as my foreman was (30 minutes) and took off about 5 minutes after he left. I didn't see them doing any measuring at all.

I talked to my foreman as soon as I measured (the gunnite crew was driving off while I was measuring) and said I want this thing done right, ASAP. He said he would come out Friday. I think he thinks I don't know how to measure right, but it's pretty obvious when you look at it up close that it's wrong.

It used to look like this (the top line is what is supposed to be, the bottom line is the current slope):

Now it looks like this, after they "fixed" it
