Another Pool Build in Cypress, TX

Well, I wilted outside. Gee, if only I had a swimming pool to jump in and cool off after doing yard work! Hey! I will have one - in just a few days!!!!

So while I'm cooling off inside, here are a few pictures from yesterday's activities.....

The landscapers just began on the raised flower bed on the other side of the pool. The stones in front will not be the ones we're using. They don't look so bad in the picture - actually quite good. But in person, they look too gold or orange - they pretty much match the rust-colored stains running down below the return pipe. My house brick is almost a pink or rosa color, and I've never cared for the yellows or oranges with my brick when it comes to hardscaping. I love every color for plants, but not for patios or pathways, etc. I think it's a little busy looking over there - too many levels and too close, but the PM this morning said he thought it would look very different when the stone is mortared onto the cinder blocks. He's going to use travertine for the cap stones. He said it would be beautiful. Again, Suz can't visualize how that will look. So I will trust him. The bed is looking smaller than I had hoped, but it's set now. I'm hoping we will have enough room to plant the Mountain Laurel there. They grow so slowly - the landscaper said I will be long gone before it gets too big for the spot. Ok, so this time I'll think of myself first rather than the future people here..... Sorry, but I really want my Mountain Laurel right there!!!

They began working on our Texas Star yesterday. That's about where it will be placed, also. When someone opens our gate to come into the backyard, it will be there in that opening. First and last thing to see..... The guys first cut one much bigger. I felt it was too big for the space. The larger one would have been great out in the deck area, but I think that's where our table will go. I don't see any point in having it, if we just cover it up with tables or chairs. I tease this crew, because no matter what I ask, they always shake their heads yes and say, "Si". I told them they are my Si Si crew. They laugh and shake their heads yes to that, too! (and to whoever it was stating we should know they aren't our friends, well.... I don't know what to say. I know they are working for me, and you have a logical point. But I don't know how to be any different.)

She has been swimming at grandmaw's house lately so yes - she is asking everyday when will the water come :). She is walking with her back to me.. My wife has been pretty calm but I think she sees a little light now lol

You're so wonderfully calm about it all!!! Is your wife as calm? Is your daughter about to wiggle out of her skin with excitement???? Has she planned what she wants to do first in the pool?
Thanks for the info!
Suzy.

Yes it's my parents retirement home. They just moved in about 2 months ago after 2.5 years and a whole lot of patients lol.

No work done today although he still has plenty to do but it's all tied to payments that he will not see until it gets done so I'm relaxed haha...

The next few pictures are from the install of the trim tiles yesterday evening. I've very happy with how they look.

The toe tiles.... The tile guy really felt like 3 tiles per step was the way to go. I think they look good. And the tiles are all one 'color' tile. It's just the iridescence reflecting different colors.

The Shell Beach on the sun shelf.

The trim on the deep-end bench. You can see the line Alex (the tile guy) drew to keep the points facing correctly. So glad I didn't use my super glue idea and stick 'em on myself!!!

And just in case you wanted a closer look at the pony step trim.....

A close-up of one of the Shell Beach pieces. I have more I'll post later. I just love these little guys!!!!! I love them more than diamonds!!!

WOW! Just WOW! What an artist! I hope you told him how good it looked! I DO love the three on the steps! That is just right! The shelf jewels!!!!!!!! I love the lay out! It looks like real beach shells. Very random and pretty!

And.........what is with the jewels on the Suz step??????? I had no idea you would have enough for that! WOW!

Have you been inside at all or just sitting out there looking at it???????

Look at how careful he was! Artist an artist I tell you!

Kim

Thanks Kim and Amanda! Ya'll are so fun!

I really didn't think I had enough 'shells' for the little step. I was so glad. I forgot to take a picture of the Suz step in the spa. There weren't enough shells for it. But Alex thought I should have something on it, too. So I gave him more 2x2 samples I had. Gosh, I wish I had bought more of the shell beach.

Wait until you see Paris's pool. He has shell beach tiles everywhere. I hope he posts pictures soon. I'm dying to see them myself!
Suz.
