Well, I wilted outside. Gee, if only I had a swimming pool to jump in and cool off after doing yard work! Hey! I will have one - in just a few days!!!!
So while I'm cooling off inside, here are a few pictures from yesterday's activities.....
The landscapers just began on the raised flower bed on the other side of the pool. The stones in front will not be the ones we're using. They don't look so bad in the picture - actually quite good. But in person, they look too gold or orange - they pretty much match the rust-colored stains running down below the return pipe. My house brick is almost a pink or rosa color, and I've never cared for the yellows or oranges with my brick when it comes to hardscaping. I love every color for plants, but not for patios or pathways, etc. I think it's a little busy looking over there - too many levels and too close, but the PM this morning said he thought it would look very different when the stone is mortared onto the cinder blocks. He's going to use travertine for the cap stones. He said it would be beautiful. Again, Suz can't visualize how that will look. So I will trust him. The bed is looking smaller than I had hoped, but it's set now. I'm hoping we will have enough room to plant the Mountain Laurel there. They grow so slowly - the landscaper said I will be long gone before it gets too big for the spot. Ok, so this time I'll think of myself first rather than the future people here..... Sorry, but I really want my Mountain Laurel right there!!!
They began working on our Texas Star yesterday. That's about where it will be placed, also. When someone opens our gate to come into the backyard, it will be there in that opening. First and last thing to see..... The guys first cut one much bigger. I felt it was too big for the space. The larger one would have been great out in the deck area, but I think that's where our table will go. I don't see any point in having it, if we just cover it up with tables or chairs. I tease this crew, because no matter what I ask, they always shake their heads yes and say, "Si". I told them they are my Si Si crew. They laugh and shake their heads yes to that, too! (and to whoever it was stating we should know they aren't our friends, well.... I don't know what to say. I know they are working for me, and you have a logical point. But I don't know how to be any different.)
