I didn't bother with any chlorine for my pre-plaster swamp. I just let it fester. I had tons of interested dragonflies to keep the mosquitos at bay.

Hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving. Here's a couple of pics that I would like your feedback on.
First, here's a look at the pool equipment pad. Thoughts?
Next, here is the supply line for the waterfall on our raised beam wall. I know a few members have had leak issues inside the beam wall. I'm not sure what I'm looking for, but please take a look. There will be a thin plaster wall added behind the pipe to "enclose" it, but allow for easy access for repairs. Thoughts?

Pad looks good with plenty of room to service pump and filter, which is important.
Travertine coping and termite treatment today. I will try to get some pics up of the coping. It looks really good (at least in the dim light!)
Kim -Our county requires all homes with "wet decks" within 12" of a foundation to have the ground treated to prevent termites. I suppose it's a good thing, even though we don't have a wood frame exterior.
It cannot hurt. It might even be a good idea to make a point of doing a "treatment every season or so to be on the safe side. I did not even think of how close the wet is to your house.

I think it's a good idea, I suppose. The closest point to the foundation is 8', but...
I wish this advice had been posted when I was doing my build. I totally would have done a termite treatment prior to decking which is actually attached to my foundation. Never even thought about it.
Zcat you can still do it yourself. Go to Lowes or such. Look for the stuff and do it. It is easy to do. We buy the liquid and spray it all around the house/foundation. With your deck just spray a narrow stream between the boards and foundation. That is what we do with our deck.

My exterminator recently told me that it's not a matter of if, but when. He states every home has termites at some point.
A few pics with the travertine installed and about 1/2 of the coping in place. They will be out tomorrow (Sunday!) to finish the coping on the beam wall and around the spa & fireplace!
The dividing line will be the channel drain (those plastic pieces shown laying on the deck in the above photos).
TFP friends, I hope you will give me a little latitude here, as I am running out of patience with my coping guy. He has been working on coping for five days. FIVE DAYS. Our pool is an odd shape, sure, but it's 15' x 29' at it's max, not 1500' x 2900'. FIVE DAYS!!!!! ARGH!!!!!!!!
All that said... he's supposed to be finished today so they can install the limestone on the raised wall (yay!). He's a really hard worker and was here past dark until 8pm on Sunday night. Most importantly - he's doing really, really exceptional work:
Just look at the 45s he's putting on every end piece:
Really great work, but.... FINISH THE COPING TODAY PLEASE BEFORE I GO MAD!!!!

I'd have a hard time complaining about a guy showing up, doing good work and being conscientious...albeit slowly. You're not paying him by the hour. In the end quality is more important than speed.
