    leak in return line

Moved over the winter to a house with a 40,000 gallon gunite pool..went to open the pool for the first time last week and discovered a pretty big leak. based on paperwork we have from the previous owner and in talking with the company that closed the pool last year, there was a leak in the return line fixed last summer, that is broken again. apparently last year they just tried to bandage it and now they want to replace the line...any idea how much $$ we are talking??

    thanks for the help..

What is over the return line?

(eg, what will they have to remove to fix it)

I think that would be the bigger cost. You could even lower the cost if you dug the thing out I would imagine, to save them time.

unfortunately, the concrete pool deck will probably have to be cut into to repair or replace the line...anyone been through this??

Concrete up to 4' can be tunneled under. Beyond that, it must be cut. Most service organizations charge by the man hour plus materials. The replacement line is usually hand dug to avoid tearing up any power lines, gas lines, etc... Don't waste time looking for the break.
