No pressure on gauge

We recently completed our DIY install with some PB help and when the pump is on the gauge on the cartridge filter barely moves, if I shut off some of the returns I can cause the needle to go up higher. There seems to be good pressure at the returns and I can force the deck jets to shoot over the entire pool so I think everything is good but just wanted to run it by you guys.

What is the scale on the gauge? If you have a very big cartridge filter and efficient plumbing it may be possible to have low pressure ... on low speed you may not register anything.

The liquid filled gauges that tftestkits.net sells are nice as they are only 0-30psi and have 0.5psi increments.
