pH / TA woes

I wouldn't raise TA. Raising TA tends to push pH upwards, which is what I thought you were trying to eliminate? Adding acid once a week is actually pretty good for where you live, since the water tends to be hard and alkaline. Just refilling from evaporation will push TA & pH up. Have you tested your refill water?

The number I am concerned about in your readings is CYA 65. That number is just going to keep climbing higher and higher the longer you use trichlor. And the minimum FC level will also go higher and higher and higher until 7.5 FC won't be enough.

Now that you're testing and dosing things, it ought to start making sense; learning by doing. I'd suggest a rereading of http://www.troublefreepool.com/content/123-abc-of-pool-water-chemistry and http://www.troublefreepool.com/content/142-how-to-chlorinate-your-pool

As Richard pointed out, your CYA is already too high, so continued use of trichlor tablets is a very bad idea.

It is your fill water that is going to continually drive your TA and pH up ... nothing you can do about the need to keep adding acid.

I would kill for that kind of pH stability. Your goal is 7.5 to 7.8. Every time you knock pH down with Acid, you also lower TA. Natural aeration raises pH without raising TA. You should experiment with whether your pH has a stable point where it settles down, but still within your range window. You may also find that you are able to make finer adjustments using Muriatic Acid Liquid, as many have a hard time being accurate with Dry Acid, and tend to add more than needed.

I will add my .02 on your CYA being high, and heading higher with continued use of Trichlor.
