I have a new depression in the floor of our above ground pool. It literally just formed today. It’s roughly 6”-8” long and 4”-6” wide, and appears to be a couple of inches deep. I havent been in yet to inspect it. But was curious if that’s symptomatic of a common problem? a leak perhaps?

How old is the pool? When was this liner installed?

That looks like it could be a depression caused by an underground cavity from a root etc. that decayed years ago and wasn't found during excavation.

Unfortunately the only way to fix it is to drain the pool and pull back the liner and fill it with good compactable material, and compact it to 90+% proctor density.

It would also be wise to check the entire area for an extension of that hole or for other cavities.

Looks like it may have been over looked when the sand went down. Wasnt packed in that area. That's a pretty big depression n it's going to collect a lot of debris.

At worst, if it's not leaking n stays the same size, it'll be your garbage pit n collect dirt.
