Working on framing the wood deck up next to the pool and wanted to ask first. I have a j-hook liner under an 8" resin top rail. My framing height will put my decking pretty much level with top rail (not above and not going under the top rail). Each end of a board will be ending toward the pool. How much space should i leave between the decking boards and the top rail? Pros/cons of spacing differences? Will winter cover be able to be put on? Didn't want a large, obvious gap. 1/4"? 1/2"?
