3 Week battle with algae

Last test showed 50
So about a 30% exchange.
Better than before. Less copper is always better. If I did the math right (questionable 😂) that would make the copper number around 0.35 which is still enough to cause problems but definitely more ideal than 0.5.
A safer bet is 0.2 or less. Definitely looks much better already though.
SLAM ON 🤩

Couple of questions. My pool has cleared to the point where I can now see the bottom of the ladder. However I can't clearly see the bottom. Should I continue with slam? Secondly I've been placing polyfill in my skimmer basket daily. It's capturing a light greenish colored "stuff" is this algae? What color would iron be if it's being captured?

Yes - continue until
✅ CC is 0.5 or lower;
✅ Overnight Chlorine Loss Test
AND
✅ The water is clear.
(Crystal Clear w/no algae dead or alive)

Most likely algae - iron would be brown usually.

Polyfill is also generally not capable of capturing copper.

So I’ve learned my lesson using FLOC, but are clarifiers going to coagulate in my sand the same as FlOC did?
They can gum it up if used on a regular basis or in too large of amounts.
The deep clean & DE afterwards is the way to go. Clarifiers are a last resort.

My TA is pretty high. Can I address this now that my SLAM is nearly complete?
The ph test is invalid at fc levels over 10ppm so nope , you must wait - also TA is the very last thing one needs to address in the pool. Higher ta doesn’t hurt anything it just leads ph to rise more quickly. You have no recent ta logged in pool math so I’m not sure what you mean by high.
When fc comes down after you’re certain slam is complete here’s the way

Just wanted to give an update. Pool is finally clear. Friday and Saturday morning I awoke to a mass of what appeared to be algae in the center of the pool. Vacuumed to waste both days and the pool is clear again.

Thanks to everyone for the support and guidance. I was throwing my hands in the air in frustration on this one.
