20 psi too high for brand new Hayward 1.5hp matrix + 21" filter?

I just finished installing a new tank/system with 200lbs of sand.. and the 1.5 matrix pump.. after i had it set up.. backwashed/rinsed.. i show 20-22 psi on the gauge.. from what i just read online, this is too high.. usually a sign of a blockage or air leak.. however, i doubt i have any of those or unsure how to check..

Does anyone know what a normal range is for this system.. and when backwashing should occur (which psi)?

My 23" runs at 17psi... I usually backwash once it goes up a few psi

We recommend backwashing when pressure rises 20-25% above clean pressure.
