I am going to be out of town for a week for Thanksgiving. I always seem to have an issue with my DE filter clogging causing the pressure to go up. Rather than turning off the pump can I add a lot of shock or pucks and keep it on Recirculate? Would that cause an issue?

Possibly. What is your CYA level at right now? Pucks will add CYA to your pool, and you don't want your CYA level too high.

I would be concerned if your DE filter can only go a week between backflushing? I would say there is something wrong with your pool water or filter.
