Modesto, CA BANKS build

IMG_3609.jpg So here is where the story starts. Growing up there was a certain house on my street that I always said I would buy when I grow up. This house was known for its white picket fence in the front yard and cool pool in the backyard. Time went on I moved away but would always see the house when I went to visit my parents and say to myself maybe someday. I got married had some kids and every time we would go to visit my parents I would show my wife the house and say, "If that house EVER goes on the market we are going to buy it!" Well wouldn't you know it one fine day we are going to visit my parents and as we turned the corner there it was a sign out front that said "Open House". I looked at my wife and said you got to check this place out, it has a giant pool (and kitchen). We went into the house and walked around. I couldn't wait to get to the backyard to see " THE" pool. We walked outside and WTH, there is no pool! I immediately went inside and asked the real estate agent what gives. She explained to me the owners could no longer maintain the pool so it is still there just filled in with dirt. I was ready to walk but remember the BIG kitchen I told you about, well now my wife was sold! And so the story begins......

So this is where the original pool was. The pool was still there it was just buried in dirt and then landscape was place over it. Armed with my trusty shovel I went back there and started digging randomly in hopes of discovering the pool walls. After about an hour of digging I called a friend who has a pool service company. He put me in touch with a builder. I spoke with the builder for about an hour over the phone. He told me he would bring out a tractor and start digging. His thought was that he may be able to salvage the old pool and it would save us thousands of dollars. He came over a few days later and started to dig (no charge). Soon after he started we realized the old pool could never be saved. The pool decking had been broken up and thrown into the pool, rebar was exposed all over. Not only was there no way to salvage the pool but now I just wanted that thing ripped from the ground as it was truly just a garbage pit, a massive backyard garbage pit! The picture on the bottom is a google earth photo of the old pool, it is the triangle shaped pool.

We will call this chapter 1.

They sure made it pretty back there though. So you are saying they broke up all/most of the decking and threw it in the pool? What a shame

So nice of that fella to bring his digger and dig for free to see if y'all could find and save the pool. LOL how many shovel fulls did you get through before you called NOPE?
