Broken Off pentair Manual Air relief Vavle

Hi,
i managed to snap off my air relief valve on my Pentair quad 80 filter. doe anyone know how to remove the stub of the valve from the top of the filter in a safe manner without destroying the dome

I just found a PVC stub extractor at Home Depot. Will update if this works

That extractor works very well on sprinker head pipe, etc, when they break off. I would think it would be able to bite on the pipe broken off and twist it right out.

just do not run the drill at a fast speed....easy is the key to success

I was able to get the stub out of a Hayward filter for a friend using one.

Here's an easy solution that worked for me. Heat the tip of a small nail with a lighter for a minute or so, while holding it with pliers. Push it into the broken piece in the filter top using the pliers. It doesn't have to go too far in, just enough to seat firmly, maybe 1/2" at the most. Repeat with a second nail across from the first one. Then grasp the two nails (they may be still hot) with the pliers, turn counterclockwise, and voila, out it comes. It took me less than 5 minutes, no trips to the hardware store and no special tools.
