Pump not starting

Came home this evening and noticed my pump wasn't running while it was supposed to. I reset the breaker in our main circuit breaker box, and went back and started the pump. It began to strain for a few seconds and went quiet again, giving out a very slight burning smell. Any idea what might be going on? The pump had been running around the clock for the past few days as I was in the middle of a SLAM. Thanks for your help!

I think a start capacitor is pretty common, but I would have to have electrical expertise on this myself. You can't rush the pool too much in this scenario so do that as much as you can muster until the issue is resolved. Best of luck.
