Vacum line cover plate

Is there a special trick to lift this open so you can attach a pool cleaner. I can not seem to open mine. I asked the pool builder and he said yes it is easy to do and he did it and i watched... I guess Im an idiot but mine wont seem to open when i try.

I know there is some simple trick to get this to open up. Suggestions.

The lid snaps in place, so it can be tricky to open. The instructions say to use a screwdriver to pop it open. Just be careful not to damage it.

Also, it can help to have the pump off so that suction is not holding the flap down.
