I've had a significant leak, about 1/2 an inch of water a day in my 16' x 32' pool. I built a pressure tester and found the center, 1 of 3, return line leaking. It's a major leak as the hose shows no pressure when my hose is full open at about 1.6 gal per minute. Years ago I moved the pump and heater. My local pool installer did the work using flex hose to connect to the original PVC pipe. I suspect a connection failure at the pump end or the original equipment location. I plan to check the connection at the pump first. I don’t see any water pooling when I pressurize the line with hose, my yard is very sandy. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Sounds like you have a decent starting plan - If you know where those suspect connections are, take a look.
