Are you using the 25ml or the 10? You can use 5 and count each drop as one. It's not quite as accurate, but works as long as it's not for an OCLT.

So i can use 5mil and use the same 1 heaping scoop?

Just did the test twice,

5mil. 17x1. =. 17
10mil. 27 x .5 =. 13.5

Also you can be + or - a few drops to 5mil or 10mil mark

Small volume variations cause a larger error when the sample is smaller.

We generally do not recommend the 5ml test method ... Even if many members seem to suggest it to save a few pennies.

A 2oz bottle of R-871 is $11, at the advertised approx 140 tests per bottle, that's $0.08 per test.

The added errors in using 5ml could lead to an algae bloom, where any savings in test reagent will be swallowed by the added chlorine cost to clear the algae.
