Question about "dirt" coming into pool from inlet

When I turn on my pump both inlets bubble for a very short time and then release what appears to be dirt and/or sand into the pool. It can go on for as long as a couple of minutes but then appears to stop. This has just happened today. I have been running the pump for 2 days now. Any ideas?

This is often an indicator that the filter needs to be cleaned or that perhaps you vacuumed to 'backwash' instead of 'waste'.

Is the pool water now clear? If it is and you do a thorough series of backwash/ rinses, the problem should stop, if it doesn't we can talk about opening up the filter and checking the sand for channeling.
