Motor runs...just not when connected to the pump :(

Centurion 7-168453-24 and a Challenger Pentair pump

Motor quit turning....I took it apart from the pump...hooked it back up to electricity and it spun like a top.

Reassembled and greased everything and...nada. It wants to turn...it's making a noise. With a touch of a screwdriver to the impeller it spins like it's supposed too. Bought a seal kit. Haven't hooked it all back together due to the binding? Issue. Or is it just the pump is toast?

Help please for a newbie pool owner and expert tinkerer.

Thank you!!! Dan

Hello and Welcome to TFP,

When you had the motor off did you check to see that pump (not the motor) turned freely with no binding ? If the pump turns freely I would suspect motor being bad. An electric motor can turn with no load on it but still be bad

Hope that helps. Let us know what you find out
