    Help Pool Water Hot!

The finer the mist the better cooling effect. Also the higher it shoots in the air the more it will cool. Even when it hasn't been running long enough to cool the water, standing under the arch of the water feels much cooler too.

Irremovable Stains - Las Vegas, NV

Hi, welcome to TFP! From your test results I would say this is calcium scale with dirt embedded in it. When the pH is on the high end 7.8 and up, and there calcium hardness is high, the calcium in the water falls out of solution and deposits on the surfaces of your pool. Your area is...

Our newly constructed gunite pool has shifted!

I can't speak to the construction of the pool or its possible repair, but I can add a little about soil and weather. The greater Houston area has clay soil that has a lot of movement on its own. In dry times it can shrink an incredible amount. The summer of 22 was one of the hottest and...

Address rusting walls now or in the Spring

That is a pretty significant layer of rust ready to flake off of the wall. Since this is an inground pool you can probably replace sections of the wall with the same gauge steel that has been rust proofed. It would need to be riveted in place and several layers of tape over the rivets. What...

Crack in Fiberglass Pool - options and costs for repair?

Hi, welcome to TFP! You will need someone who can assess the origin of the cracks to determine if you need to patch the fiberglass shell or if there is an issue with the ground under your pool that needs to be corrected first.

Need help - found hole on side wall of above-ground pool before winterizing

Yes liner scraps should work well. I am curious what could have caused the hole and why the leak is not worse. Don't worry about getting a picture if the weather is not cooperating.

Need help - found hole on side wall of above-ground pool before winterizing

I would get a new patch kit. They are not expensive and you want the patch to hold. Use two patches over the hole, with the first patch 1" larger all the way around than the hole and round off any corners on the patch. A circular patch is best if you have enough material. Apply the patch and...

    Repairing a patch?

Just cut a patch 1" bigger around than the old patch and glue it on top of the old one. Never try to peel off a patch once it has set, it will stretch out or tear the liner. If you can trim the edges with a pair of small scissors. Be sure to round off any corners on the new patch before you...

    Vultures

I was assuming this was an above ground pool, thus my suggestion about the pool cover. If they like the water off the slide and you have a pond nearby, maybe the pond will be more attractive if you put a small fountain in there and leave the slide off for a couple of days?

    Vultures

https://www.hunker.com/13405694/how-to-get-rid-of-vultures-buzzards If they are attracted to the water in your pool try covering it when not in use. You can get a pool cover reel and mount it on your deck to make it easy to get the cover on and off. You can combine that with a blue tooth...

Not sure what this is on my stairs and walls and it does not want to come off.

The calcium test is a little tricky if you are using a drop based test. You have to keep swirling the tube while adding and counting the drops to get an accurate reading. Also if you were not able to drain 100% of the old water and it had high calcium levels that could account for the change...

If there is a hydrostatic plug it will be in the deep end. Take a sample of your tap water and test it for calcium hardness. If you don’t have a test kit yet you can run it but the pool store to be tested, just don’t buy anything from them! You need to keep calcium levels between 250 and...

Not sure what this is on my stairs and walls and it does not want to come off.

If the previous owner used a lot of calcium hypochlorite or if your water is very hard that would lead to the calcium scale Joyful Noise was talking about. The water softener tells me you may have hard water issues. Water softeners are usually plumbed to supply the house after or bypass the...

Do you have well water or city water? If you use well water you may need to add a sequestrant to bind any iron there may be in the water.

Repairing large split in pool liner

I have not heard of that technique to repair a liner. I would not use gorilla tape to repair a split liner. It may work in a pinch but for a long term repair I would use a vinyl liner patch kit, if the liner was repairable.
