Welcome to TFP! Unless your pool is gigantic, that number is waaayyy too high. If that includes new plaster it sounds reasonable.

Welcome to TFP! Those two pumps are the same. Have you considered getting solar heat? Pools in San Diego never get warm enough for me...but coming from Seattle you might be used to that! Feel free to post the details of the bids and we'll look 'em over for you.

Reviews of epool Game 4817 and other wireless temp monitors

Re: Reviews of epool Game 4817 and other wireless temp monit Hopefully it will work well for you! A bunch of us tried a similar one a couple years ago, and I think water always ended up getting inside the floater and ruining it :( At least that's what happened with mine.

    Adhesives, glues pvc to fiberglass

Welcome to TFP! Can you post a picture of the valve in question? If we can identify the manufacturer, a quick call to them or search for the manual should answer your question. Why are you replacing the valve? Usually it's just the gear mechanisms that wear out, and those are pretty easy to...

    Hello from New Jersey

Getting your own test kit will help you immensely. The TF-100 (link in my sig) is the best value out there... No, there aren't any other dangers with high pH. Rain and tap water are nowhere near acidic enough to make a difference in your pH...using muriatic acid (liquid) is best, but the dry...

New Here need help on Cinder Block pools

I would be surprised if simply sealing it would work. Even it it did, the roughness of the surface would be hard on your feet and the little holes would be perpetually full of dirt. I think a standard vinyl pool would work the best in your situation. A thicker liner would help with the dogs.

New Here need help on Cinder Block pools

Also, you will need a "liner" of some kind (vinyl, plaster, etc) to keep water in the pool. Concrete by itself is not watertight.

New Here need help on Cinder Block pools

We have a few members around here who have built them...Duraleigh (concrete block w/ vinyl liner)and solarboy (used blocks to form then poured walls) come to mind. Hopefully they'll see this and stop by. Welcome to TFP!

Woody, I wouldn't bother with it; my experience with GardenWeb (both on the pool and cactus/succulent forums) is that it's swamped with ads (even including occasional transparent ads that are beneath the posts themselves!!) and uses utterly obsolete forum software. Not that there's not good...

New home in Fl (for me) old pool (new for me)!

Will you be using the heater only for the spa, or to heat the entire pool? How far along are you in the replaster process? What issue(s) have you encountered? There are some plaster experts around here that can help you out in terms of what to expect, etc. As for the heat pumps, there are...
