Chlorine levels go down close to zero overnight.

I would raise your target FC level for a while. If your CYA is really 30, it won't hurt to run at FC of 5 or 6 and see if chlorine levels hold better at night. With a salt water chlorine generator, your CYA should really be higher though...in the 70-80 range. This will help to buffer against FC...

    I'm about done with SWG

Clorox Bleach has Cloromax...not good for pools. Switch to plain bleach or liquid shock (plain sodium hypochlorite).

    Cost benefit of the swg

I have a Stenner pump too and I fill up the tank about once every 4-5 weeks using 12.5% sodium hypochlorite from Ocean State Job Lot,($2.99/gal) which is about 2 miles away. The only added risk to liquid chlorine is splashing on your nice clothes, so always change into your crappy clothes...

    Stenner Pump Outdoor Use Rated?

I believe the Stenner pumps with the rain caps are fine for outdoors...mine is 3 years old and I've had no issues. I do bring the pump into the garage after closing for the winter.

This might be a cheaper place to buy the pump and tank: Stenner 15 Gallon Tank System With 100 PSI Fixed Pump 1/4 Inch Tube

    Gunite Pool Leak

I was losing about the same amount of water in my pool earlier this year. Let the water drop until it stops dropping. If the water stops dropping at the skimmers, check to see if there is a gap between the gunite and the skimmer body. This is where I found my leak. A little epoxy putty fixed...

    increasing Chlorine with a SWG

I have a stenner setup, but if I had a SWG I would set the level to whatever maintains my FC at the target level without having to add other chlorine products. Though FC loss will usually go up and down with changing weather and swimmer load, you should be able to determine what level works...

    Stenner for Acid

My pool likes an ALK of around 60-70 and I try to keep a fairly low CSI (-.47) since I'm still trying to even out my colored plaster mottling. Pebbletec is much more resilient than regular plaster, so I'm comfortable with this level.

    Stenner for Acid

My acid demand has dropped considerable a few years after replastering. I keep my PH on the low side (7.2 ish) and only have to add a little MA every couple of weeks. I wouldn't feel comfortable having a pump handle full strength MA additions in the event of a tubing break or other problem...

Stenner Pump: Variable vs. Fixed rate?

I have the fixed rate 10 GPD stenner pump running it on a timer 3 times a day for about 15 min each. The fixed rate pumps are quieter and should last longer.

    Thinking About Converting

A Stainless tank should not be impacted too much by a swg, but an older one may be less impervious to corrosion than the newer models depending on the type of ss used.

    Stenner Run Time

Mine is set to run 15 min at 8 AM, 25 min at 1 PM and 15 min at 6 PM each day at a rate of about 1 oz per minute. Pool is about 33k gallons gets about 5-6 hours of full sun per day.

    Stenner run time?

Pretty sure you can just go with the next size pump head tubing as a fix to your flow rate.

    Stenner Auto Chlorinator Questions

Re: Intermatic T100 Series Wiring - Controlling Stenner There are two manual over-ride on/off buttons on the ETC1125CR timer, one for each output. When I want to dose a little extra, I simply hit the on button and let it run for 10 or 15 minutes, then turn it back off off. The timer schedule...

    Stenner Auto Chlorinator Questions

Re: Intermatic T100 Series Wiring - Controlling Stenner That's what I really like about the dual electronic timer, one output controls the pool pump, the other output contols the fixed rate stenner pump, and you can set as many separate cycles as you need to in order to dose...plus no clicking...

Stenner users: when do you refill your tank

I add about 6-7 gallons at a time, so whenever it looks about half full, I bring the level back up. I figure a mixture of old and new bleach will keep the chlorine level consistent over time and I won't have to fiddle with my timer settings much. I'm adding bleach to the container about every...

    Stenner size and type?

I'd recommend the 10 gallon per day pump, Stenner 45MPHP10, and also the 15 gal tank. My pool is 33k gallons and I dose 3 times per day for about 15-20 minutes per dose. I'm hoping the pump will last a long time running less than an hour a day.

    Sodium Hypochlorite vs Muriatic Acid

I have both the Lamotte ColorQ Pro 7 and the TF100 test kits. I really like the Lamotte from an ease of use perspective and have only recently been testing with the TF100. Over the past few days, I have been using both testers to compare the results since I installed a Stenner Pump system and...

    Stenner pump and wiring dilemma

Now that my Stenner pump is up and running, I removed the old Hayward chlorinator and have been looking around for a 1/4 FIP plastic cap to close off the feed connection, but all I could find was a brass cap from Home Depot. Anyone know if the brass can cause an issue with the water or...

    Stenner pump and wiring dilemma

I had the ET1125CR installed yesterday and I received the Stenner pump and 15 gallon tank today. I also bought one of those poolskim devices and the TF-100 test kit with the speedstir. Everything seems to be working really well. I set the Stenner pump on a schedule for 15 minutes in the...

    Stenner pump and wiring dilemma

Well, I pulled the trigger and purchased the Intermatic ET1125CR timer, 220v 45MPHP10 Stenner Pump and the 15 gallon gray tank. Electrician is coming on Monday to do the install. I also purchased 14 gallons of bleach from Walmart (free delivery on orders over $50) which should be here by...

Getting Prepared to Install a Stenner

Thanks Gary! So in my case, there should be no need for a separate switch to turn off the pool pump, since the controller on/off buttons act as switches for both outputs. I'll probably have the electrician set up everything and wire it all. Just need to figure out if I want the plastic or...

Getting Prepared to Install a Stenner

Gary - I'm thinking of buying the same controller. Can you tell me if the two on/off buttons shown on your unit each control one output? I was thinking of adding manual switches and outlets on the two outputs, but if these two buttons perform the same function, that would be a waste of space...

    Stenner pump and wiring dilemma

I just met with an electrician at lunchtime and he looked at all the options and said that the 115v accessory outlets near the pool are all 14 GA wire, so he can't legally extend them in new conduit to run pool equipment without changing to 12 GA. He also looked at the 230v feed to the pool...

    Stenner pump and wiring dilemma

Nope..no automation. It would be so cool if Stenner made a 230v adjustable pump that did not click, that would solve all my problems, simple add a double outlet to the existing box and adjust as needed. I think they need to introduce a nice quiet dc or stepper motor design in their offering...

    Stenner pump and wiring dilemma

I like the idea of #2...my understanding is that the ET1125CR can control two loads independently and on different timers, so in theory, I could set the mechanical timer in the basement to always on, then at the equipment pad, install one of these, with the two outputs going to two separate...

    Stenner pump and wiring dilemma

So...I've been reading a lot of the Stenner posts and researching my options, but I'm still trying to figure out what my best option is. I've got a few issues to work through on my setup, so who better to ask than you guys? I have 230v at the main pump, but it's on a timer located in my...
