    Cold weather and the Liquidator

Because the chlorine demand is so low during the winter here in Texas, I don't see why you couldn't just disconnect the liquidator and bump your FC manually when needed.

    SWG won't turn on

Depending on the amount of wear on the cell, three years is not really unreasonable. All SWCG cells have a flow sensor that tells the unit when the water is moving so that it can, in turn, generate chlorine. The water must be moving for it to work and the flow sensor shuts the unit down if no...

    Salty taste.

Even non SWCG pools can taste a little salty. Salt is left behind in the water as sodium hypochlorite is consumed in the water.

    Salty taste.

Perfectly normal. "Your pool tastes a little salty, Kyle." A couple of responses would work. Response #1 "Yes, I have a saltwater pool. There is salt in the water because of this." Response #2 "Then quit peeing in my pool."

Average Price for Liquid Chlorine ?

Re: Liquid Chlorine? My Wal-Mart sells 12.5%, but I think that it is the same 12.5% jugs that have been on those shelves for 3 or 4 years. They look old! I don't think that much of it moves down here in N. Texas. I usually get the 8.25% 3 jug boxes at Costco for $8 and change.

Average Price for Liquid Chlorine ?

Re: Liquid Chlorine? The cost of shipping bulk sodium hypochlorite would prohibit any cost savings that you might realize. If you can buy it locally and in bulk, your best deal will be had there.

What to add to pool to correct chemical readings

Well, your TA needs to come up to say 70 or 80. You add baking soda to bring that up. You pH should come up with that. You also need CYA in there. SInce you are running a SWCG, we recommend a CYA of 60 to 80. Therefore, you should add enough to get you to 60. Use the Pool Calculator (link...

    removing offline puck feeder?

I had one plumbed into my system. Once I quit using it, I just left it be until it eventually stated to leak. Then I removed it at that point. It won't hurt anything to sit there idle. You can deal with it once it starts to leak.

    cloudy water from jets

Welcome to TFP! That's unusual. SWCG cells can create lots of tiny little bubbles that are evident at the return jets, but cloudy water that is present only with the cell off is strange. DE leaking from a broken grid can create a dusty condition in the water, but that wouldn't have anything...

    help! totally new to this...

Usually, those are for some type of chemical control. They can be used for automated chlorination, pH control, and other things. It would be uncommon to use one in a residential setting. Did he say why such a pump would be needed?

SWG no errors but not generating salt

Welcome to TFP! I agree with linen. It may be a touch too cold for your cell to start generating. What you can do is add chlorine manually until the water is warm enough to generate chlorine on its own. Then, once the water warms up, if it still is putting out chlorine, then you can go into...

    SWG with Automatic cover

A sacrificial anode is a metal, usually zinc, that sort of attracts the corrosive properties of substances to itself so that the other metals that comprise the structure of the object being protected are spared. This way, the salt corrodes the zinc anode and not the metal in your pool cover...

why are pool companies talking me out of salt?

SWCGs seem to be sort of regional. There are areas where you see more salt pools than others. I have yet to figure out why this is but I suspect that when it comes down to certain natural stone types that are in use in a particular region and whether or not the stone "likes" to be in a more...

Help! Accidentally cut line from aquapure box to cell....

Re: Help! Accidentally cut line from aquapure box to cell.. If you aren't getting power to the cell because the line was cut, you can add a little bleach to keep the FC up or you can put a floater with tablets in the pool until your service company is able to come out and make repairs.

anyone using liquid chlorine check their salt levels recentl

Re: anyone using liquid chlorine check their salt levels rec I'm sure that it's possible. I wouldn't worry too much about it unless you are have water evaporating on surfaces and leaving behind white salt residue which I would doubt is occurring at that level.

If your warranty requires it, then you seem to have no choice. Although, I am not sure how they would know whether you had it in there or not. Let's hope that some of our local Pentair guys can explain it to us in a way the we can understand.
