Because the chlorine demand is so low during the winter here in Texas, I don't see why you couldn't just disconnect the liquidator and bump your FC manually when needed.

Even non SWCG pools can taste a little salty. Salt is left behind in the water as sodium hypochlorite is consumed in the water.

I haven't heard that having an automatic cover would have anything to do with a SWCG being applicable for a given situation.

Re: Liquid Chlorine? My Wal-Mart sells 12.5%, but I think that it is the same 12.5% jugs that have been on those shelves for 3 or 4 years. They look old! I don't think that much of it moves down here in N. Texas. I usually get the 8.25% 3 jug boxes at Costco for $8 and change.

Well, your TA needs to come up to say 70 or 80. You add baking soda to bring that up. You pH should come up with that. You also need CYA in there. SInce you are running a SWCG, we recommend a CYA of 60 to 80. Therefore, you should add enough to get you to 60. Use the Pool Calculator (link...

I had one plumbed into my system. Once I quit using it, I just left it be until it eventually stated to leak. Then I removed it at that point. It won't hurt anything to sit there idle. You can deal with it once it starts to leak.

That's what I do when I need to add it.

Welcome to TFP! That's unusual. SWCG cells can create lots of tiny little bubbles that are evident at the return jets, but cloudy water that is present only with the cell off is strange. DE leaking from a broken grid can create a dusty condition in the water, but that wouldn't have anything...

Usually, those are for some type of chemical control. They can be used for automated chlorination, pH control, and other things. It would be uncommon to use one in a residential setting. Did he say why such a pump would be needed?

Re: Help! Accidentally cut line from aquapure box to cell.. If you aren't getting power to the cell because the line was cut, you can add a little bleach to keep the FC up or you can put a floater with tablets in the pool until your service company is able to come out and make repairs.

Re: anyone using liquid chlorine check their salt levels rec I'm sure that it's possible. I wouldn't worry too much about it unless you are have water evaporating on surfaces and leaving behind white salt residue which I would doubt is occurring at that level.

Welcome to TFP! Test strips don't really tell you much. From what I am hearing though, it sounds like you need to shock.

If your warranty requires it, then you seem to have no choice. Although, I am not sure how they would know whether you had it in there or not. Let's hope that some of our local Pentair guys can explain it to us in a way the we can understand.
