    Installing a new liner

I'd give inyo pools a call and ask them. If you can't would you be able to get under the deck and have someone feed you the liner? I'm think of using a paint stirrer with gauze on the end to push it under the deck so you don't damage the liner.

New Pool installed - what to do with water?

Congratulations! It wouldn't hurt but I don't think it's necessary. The only thing is later in spring you'll get a lot of pollen. If you have trees in your yard maybe a lot of springtime debris so it would help cut down on the work your filter needs to do. Also shielding the water from the sun...

    Drainage around pool

Is there a clear path the water is taking leading up to the pool (sounds like it from the original post). I think you may be creating more work than necessary. As mentioned the french drain is for water underground. This seems to be surface water and if it is you just need a channel drain. I...

    Question about cover and skimmer.

when i had an AG pool i would put the cable between the skimmer and top rail (not around the skimmer). I didn't want unnecessary pressure on the skimmer.

Anyone Using a Mesh Winter Cover?

Indeed, I just bought a micro mesh cover based on this thread. Hope I like it as much as the op.

Closing - how important is dropping tree water level?

You don't' need to drain the water. I have an IG and was skeptical but the pool company assured me it's fine. They were right. They plug the skimmers and returns after blowing the water out (you'd simply drain them) and in the skimmer they put in 1 liter bottles with some rocks in them to weigh...

    Need a new filter......

Get the cheapest filter you can get your hands on. If you're not willing to test regularly it doesn't matter they type since all types will filter to below what the eye can see. For time considerations (if that's the main consideration) I'd stick with the cartridge since if you oversize it you...

    Buying a new pool heater

FWIW, I have a 266k btu heater (nat gas) and about a 20-21k gallon pool and it's more than adequate. For an almost no cost replacement I take the replacement from the warranty co. If you get a different brand it may not be as simple as dropping the new one into place and a plumber may have to do...

When is good time to open?

I'm right on the state border in Rockland County so we have the same temps. I assume you have a solid cover on the pool and if it was closed with proper chem balancing last year with clear water it will be clear upon opening. That's a fine time line. I open then too. You can swim Memorial Day...

Signs that a liner needs to be replaced

Liners can last a very long time. My former above ground pool's liner is 16 years old this season and still going. The likely scenario is that it will leak but not burst. If it bursts it's likely because the wall has failed. If installed correctly this is very unlikely (unless a tree falls on...

    Pool heating

You'll get answers on both sides of the fence. I think it comes down to how you use your pool. With the solar cover you are doing the #1 thing to keep costs down regardless of how you heat. I keep my pool at 84 and turn it up to 86 if it's cloudy when we're swimming. If I know I won't be using...

    Baby Fence Ideas Needed

The webstie for the pic won't open for me but know that the mesh fences are ok but not as safe as one would think. Many areas do not consider them a proper safety barrier. Also get a pool alarm and a door alarm if a door from the house leads to the pool. This is the NY regs. They are tough but...

Newbie post - looking for advice and experience

As someone who has owned an above ground pool I'll give my .02. I wouldn't worry about the dogs and the liner too much. Make sure they know where the stairs are and they would have no need to try to climb out at any random point (plus you'll be with them anyway). Some type of marker may help...

    solar blanket solution

Hi. No. I get gunk buildup from the tons of suntan lotion we use but it's not gummy. Nothing changed when I used the liquid (too bad it didn't dissolve the lotion, haha).

    solar blanket solution

A good product for above ground pools is the solar saddle. Essentially J shaped pvc hooks that allow you pull the cover out of the pool and hang in on the side. I think i paid 90 or 100 bucks for it and it was worth it (though certainly more than the cords). I put an inground pool in last...

Could you paint the outside of the pool black

The vast majority of heat loss is through the water surface. I would put the money into a solar cover to keep the heat in at night. That being said it won't hurt and if you like the look that's a bonus. Just make sure you use a paint that is for outside and can withstand direct sun. I'd be...
