Does that also function as a charcoal-fired pool heater? Now that would be an innovation.

    Large Cantilever Umbrella

We have had a 13' Treasure Garden umbrella that we got end-of-season at our garden center for about $750. It has a heavily weighted base but we do keep it closed in windy conditions (windy enough that we don't sit outside anyway). You're unlikely to find any umbrella that does well in high...

    Unlimited (sort of) Ice

It seems like a lot of ice until you have a dozen (or more) visitors on a hot weekend day. We have a 99-quart cooler built into a chest in the yard and we keep it stocked with beer and soft drinks throughout the weekend. I was lugging several 20-lb bags of ice home each weekend to keep it cool...

Outdoor TV with no shade cover?

A local bar with an outdoor seating area has their TV in a homemade clamshell. Essentially a 2X4 frame with a galvanized corrugated metal panel screwed to it. The metal panel covers the entire front of the TV and lifts up like a garage door to provide a canopy for TV viewing (can't recall if...

    Unlimited (sort of) Ice

I've been keeping it on 24/7, but that's just because I've been reveling in ice. It signals "FUL" when the bin hits capacity and then goes into hold mode. I have this model: Blue Air FSE LLC They call it "undercounter" but it's pretty tall. Has really nice self-diagnostics. For best performance...

    Unlimited (sort of) Ice

Our most recent acquisition for summer entertaining for the 2019 season was a commercial ice machine. Makes 150lbs a day of crystal clear ice. Just chiming in to say it's been a worthwhile purchase. I have a 5-gallon food-safe bucket to tote ice from the machine in our garage to our coolers and...

    Our outdoor kitchen build.

We purchased a Dynatrap from Costco. We had a propane-fueled model at our old home that we left behind and spent the last several summers fogging. The Dynatrap is electric (plug-in) and has made a noticeable difference.

    Outdoor fridge or ice chest(s)?

After a couple of seasons purchasing $20 of ice a day to feed coolers (not to mention the time running around to get it) we ended up getting a commercial ice maker which stays in our insulated garage. It ended up being a better purchase than an outdoor fridge and we can get 150lbs of ice a day...

    Cantilever umbrella

We're in our 4th season with the 13' Treasure Garden. I do let it down when the winds are strong and we cover it during the long Chicago winters, otherwise, looks as good as new.

    Drop In Pool Mats

We had one and it was cute for a while but it discolored and did attract algae (and mold, after it was removed from the pool for winter). Expensive for what you get (didn't last 2 seasons).

Need Cover up Ideas- had to remove diving board

Was this a spontaneous change in their policy or was it the result of a claim? Which company? Our insurer didn't even take note of our diving board (i mentioned in for the quote and he said "doesn't matter").

How often do you actually use your pool?

Our pool is in Chicago and we have a Early-May to Mid-September season. We're in every weekend, many evenings after work and family members/friends with little kids use it during the week. I spend very little time maintaining it; check chems every other day (unless we have heavy use), drop the...

    Poolside shade solutions

I have the same Treasure Garden umbrella and at least 2 friends have purchased them since they saw ours. We lucked into a season-end deal at half off a few years ago. The tilt mechanism is very solid and it pivots 360 degrees around the base.
