    Chlorine level not holding

Double check your CYA With tabs and granular shock, it is probably much higher than 30.

Trying to get chlorine pool blue

I use the first empty bleach bottle of the year & cut a large opening under the handle. After that I pour in 3 cups water, use a sharpie to mark a level all the way around, repeat at 6 cups, 9 cups etc. (I do remove the label first) I use this as my personalized measuring jug.

Cloudy pool s/p refill - not losing FC (1 ppm/day) CC 0-0.5 - next steps?

How did your FC go up overnight? Did you turn off the SWG like its supposed to for an OCLT?

    Error in judgment.

I use empty bleach bottles, filled with gravel & topped off with bleach, to weigh down my steps. My husband also made me some 20" long PVC pipes, filled with concrete & capped off on both ends. Could use another one of those, but it's not worth getting another 40 lb bag of concrete mix for that...

    Alkalinity to low?

Oh, thank you. We will be gone for 2 weeks at the end of this month, so I'll be using tabs during that time. (And raise CYA some)

    Alkalinity to low?

Had to SLAM my pool after opening & only tested PH and CYA before starting. After 2 weeks the chlorine is stable and I ran a full test. FC 6 PH 7.4 Alk 30-40 ( full light pink at 30, darker pink at 40) C Hardness 50 CYA 30 Water temp 69 Do I need to raise the Alkalinity with baking soda? If...

Help! High CYA/Switching to this from pool store testing and chemocals

No. We pull the ladder up half way, dive down and take them out one at a time. Same as if you would take out the sand bags. Our sandbags always developed some small hole & algae would start inside. With the pipes, they are completely sealed. No chance of algae ever!!! We have been using the...

Help! High CYA/Switching to this from pool store testing and chemocals

We don't use sandbags due to this exact reason. What we did is: Cut PVC pipe to the length required to sit inside bottom steps, glue a cap one side, fill with concrete (or gravel), glue 2nd cap on the other side. We have 3 of those tubes, reuse them every year, and have not trouble with algae...

Chloramines in the air - my lungs feels weird plus my eyes are in pain (tested negative to Corona)

Can you test the pool? If it feels like Chloramines, maybe it is.

    Sequesterants....

I had the same problem a few years ago. Only bleach, Muric acid, Baking soda.... added to the pool for the whole time. But after reading that salt in a chlorine pool makes the water feel so much nicer, I added about 4 bags of salt one year, and 4 more the next. I suspect the metal came with the...

Very high chlorine readings for several weeks

"Had problems earlier this year with low PH and high Alkalinity, but have managed to bring PH up with varying Borax and Washing Soda. 8/3 we added 1 gal Muratic Acid (31.45%) to work to bring Alkalinity down. " Muric Acid lowers PH!!

Drain My Pool Again!! 2nd Time in 6 Months!! URGGGGGGGG

"FC usually 0-2 ( this is my main problem, even after a shock treatment its only 5-6 for a day or so) " What kind of "shock treatment"? Most of those will add more CYA to your pool. Use only reg bleach to increase your FC

Converting from Baquacil to Chlorine in Mass.

"Granular chlorine shock" contains CYA Only use regular household bleach to get your CL levels up. Get a good test kit to measure your CYA level, I suspect you need to increase your CL level in order to finish your conversion. Once you are done with that, change your filter medium. It has all...

With CYA at 65, your FC is pretty low. This might be the beginning of an algae bloom?

First time SLAMming, Combined Chlorine test won't turn clear

Is this a testing mix up? I don't understand this, after you have the FC number, you add 5 drops of 0003 to the same water (should turn pink) then you go back to the 0871 to turn it back to clear. Still with the same water. If this is what you are doing, I have no clue what is going on.

Converting from Baquacil to Chlorine Spring Opening

I converted a few years ago, but remembered that it took over 40 gal of bleach. (Still have the bottle caps, since I made a cool memory game out of them!!)

    TFTestkits testkit refill problem

In March of this year, I purchased the complete set of refills. When doing the PH test, it never showed any color that was recognizable. I finally used some leftover reagent from last year --- no problem!! That's when it dawned on me - I had to double the drops in order to get a correct...

    Highly confused....

My refill also came with the PH reagents r-0014. I'm having trouble with the color. After adding 5 drops, it's still clear. I used some left-over PH reagents r-004 from last year, the color is fine & I can determine my PH level. When I use double the r-0014 drops, it is the same as last years...

Do I really need the fancy test kit?

Even if you think your water is fine, you never know for sure. You might not have problems at first, but when you do...... you wish you had the correct test kit in order to know EXACTLY how to fix it. Or at least get answers from members here. Because without the correct test results, nobody...

    Need to convert to chlorine

Re: In middle of conversion to Chlorine from Baquacil. HELP!!! Conversions take time, the goo is normal, keep adding bleach to shock level & bump it up every hour or so. My conversion took about 60 or so bottles of bleach & around 2 weeks.

    Odd FC reading

Did the same mistake you did, not too long ago. You need to add #0871 until the color changes to clear for the FC, then add 5 drops of #003 fo figure out the CC

    Convert from baqu to chlorine

When I converted, it took A LOT of bleach!!! I kept adding, until there was no more stuff floating, and my water was crystal clear, and no more than .5 CC. In the mean time I tried to keep my FC at about 15 the whole time. (You keep the water at shock level during the whole conversion process)...

    Lowering CYA with new plaster

While a HUGE waste of water, ---- why not replace a little bit of water every day instead of 1 huge replacement? You will have to keep up with the chlorine.
