    pool opened....problem?

well, spoke with the PS...they said that gunite pools that have diverter valves typically have 2 of them. They thought I was going "take care of the other one". Doesn't seem right to me....my understanding of the diverter valve is to adjust the suction of the main drain only...should I expect...

    pool opened....problem?

Joenj - not Vanbrill....one that's located in Sewell/WT....they advertised openings for $199.99. wonder if I should have contacted sparkle 'poolmom - I cleaned up the mess last night and added DE. I kept the pump running for about 3 hours after that. it is now set to run for 10 hours/day...

    pool opened....problem?

So, I had a local poolstore open my pool. I have someone open and close...I do all the rest. Anyway, I got home last night around 8 and went to check on things. My maindrain is plumbed into the far skimmer and uses a diverter valve...I wish I knew to ask about this before starting the...

    Winterizing 2-hole skimmer

Instead of foam rope, would using foam pipe insulation suffice? While this wouldn't get all the water below the freeze line, I would think that it would provide room for expansion in case of the water freezing in the pipe. Thoughts?

Stupid question of the day: How to drain below skimmer

how about putting your vacuum hose in the water (connected to your skimmer, of course) :-D and then running your filter in backwash mode?

    Summerizing the pool Heater

If I go about opening my pool myself for this first full year of ownership, I wanted to be sure I cover the key things that need to be done for the heater. I have located the owners manual which provides key steps for preparing the heater, including reconnecting the siphon loop to the pressure...

Process to open pool w/ Spa

So, we are thinking about opening our pool ourselves this year rather than paying $400+ to someone to do something that seems pretty straight forward. Our pool has an attached spa. Since we have a mesh cover, water has accumulated in the spa as well as the pool. Since it will still be pretty...

    Closing an in ground pool

ok, so I know that it is closer to pool opening time vs. pool closing time here in the mid-atlantic. But, I do have a question on blowing out the lines. I'm about to purchase an air compressor. Would a basic $100 Craftsman 125 PSI compressor provide what I would need to blow out the lines...

    Pool with Spa....when to close

So, it looks like Indian Summer will be coming to an end after tomorrow here in NJ. We've enjoyed our first year with a new pool. Since we have a spa with the pool, I was thinking that we could keep the pool open to use the spa until late November. For those of you who have a spa with their...

Depressing as it is, we are probably done swimming

dome hmmm...just took a quick look at the site....seems really interesting. My question is what happens to your equipment if you have a long deep freeze. I get that you would keep running it as things get into the 30's and perhaps high 20's, but if it gets below that for a while, do you then...
