Not a self priming Pump is about a few feet above and a few feet away from the pool. Originally a 6ft pool hose. Now a 20ft pvc suction hose.

This was pretty much it. Priming this pump this way made all the difference in the world vs the manufacturer directions. In addition I used a straightened out suction hose instead of pool hose also makes a difference too.

Yes. The pump I bought costs ~$60 which is cheaper than a submersible one. Also I felt I could use this for other purposes around the yard if needed. Seeing that this pump was designed for ponds which would be similar to the the water on top of a tarp.

Attached is a picture of the pump. I removed the hoses from the pump since it wasn't working.

For some reason my response didn't take, but the flapper is still attached. What I did find is that there are pebbles jammed between the basket and housing. This will be tough trying to dislodge those pebbles. :(

Hello Kim I have turned the pump off when trying to remove the basket. The owners manual says to turn the basket counterclockwise in which I tried without any luck. I'm really stuck on this one. Apparently, looking at other archived post on this site I am not the only one to have this issue. :(

Hello All I have a Jacuzzi/Carvin Magnum Force pump, and I am unable to remove the strainer basket. It seems to be stuck. I have tried pulling it and rotating it counter-clockwise without any luck. Does anyone else have this pump? If so, how were you able to remove the strainer basket?
