    Cartridge Filters

Thanks Jim that's what is was hoping to hear as the OEM cartridges are pricey to replace. I see there are generic versions online for sale that are less expensive but wondering if they are any good.

    Cartridge Filters

Hi all, I have a Jandy filter tank that contains 4 large cartridges used for water filtering. I removed them to clean and my inspection shows that the appear to be in OK condition and I was able to clean the pleats good. They are 3 years old. I was wondering how long to these types of cartridges...

    Skimmer help

Thanks for the replies and advice. Yes I meant trying a manual one that you plug the hose into the skimmer for suction and place the other end of the hose in the bottom of the pool. Do I need a bag on the end of the hose that is in the pool???

    Skimmer help

I constantly find a layer of fine material at the bottom of my pool. I believe it to be pollen from the large trees that are near my pool and is especially bad in the spring when things are blooming. I have a Polaris pool sweep with a fine mesh bag that I run daily but it does not clear it from...

    Filter Pressure Question

Herman, I do not have a booster pump just a VSP. Thinking about it I always have seen an increase in pump PSI when I switch to the pool sweep return line. Now that I think more about it it makes sense. When in this mode the pump has to push the water thru a single return line (thus more back...

    Filter Pressure Question

Question: When my pool pump is running at 1600 RPM and I switch the water return valve from normal pool return outlets (there are 5) to the pressure side pool sweep outlet I see about a 5 PSI increase in the reading on the filter gage . The filter cartridges are cleaned as well as the return...

    Return Side leak?

I guess I am too much of a perfectionist at times. Anyway I will not worry about this as long as it does not totally drain down. Thanks a lot for your advice!!

    Return Side leak?

My SWG cell is transparent ( see attached pictures) and when I look at it after the pump is turned off awhile and shows half full so I believe some water is draining from it back into the pool.

    Return Side leak?

So I fixed the drip by taking apart the three way valve, cleaning inside, lubing the gasket and reinstalling the valve into the plumbing. I am still losing water albeit it much more slowly than before. What process should I use to locate an air leak on the return lines?

    Return Side leak?

So my pump basket remains full. Seems like it would drain as well? and I do not have to prime on startup. Guess I can try and fix by replacing O ring in the 3 way valve.

    Return Side leak?

Just replaced my filter and attached plumbing which fixed a leak on the suction side. Now I am noticed that when I turn on my pump after being off for awhile I get a large amount of air coming out of my returns. I also notice that my SWG cell is drained of water and it takes a couple of minutes...

    Filter Plumbing hookup problem

So I been running the newly installed filter and there are no detectable leaks in the plumbing I can see however after pump is off and then back on I noticed the water level in my SWG is down to almost half (note the SWG body sits at the highest level on the return side). When I turn the pump...

    Filter Plumbing hookup problem

Yes but it was the only way I could easily hook up filter to the existing plumbing. (On older Jandy filter the drain was across from the outlets). The cap will screw off enough to let water flow out of it. Do you recommend that I rotate the drain to other side and if so do you have any...

    Filter Plumbing hookup problem

Yes and no. Found all of the parts that are supposed to be included when purchasing a new Jandy filter however since Jandy changed the design of the hookup pieces I had to be two adapters to convert my 2.25" existing plumbing to work with larger tail pieces.

    Filter Plumbing hookup problem

So I figured out how to adapt and connect the new filter to the plumbing and completed the installation. As it was late afternoon when I was done and the glued connectors did not have the required curing time recommended by the glue manufacturer I was not able to turn on the system and do a...

    Filter Plumbing hookup problem

Yes they do fit the new filter union threads. Since I need to get off the old tail pipe from the plumbing and install theses new ones. I will need to extend the plumbing piping out to add add a short piece of 2.5 inch PVC to put filter further out on pad and away from other equipment. Will need...

    Filter Plumbing hookup problem

I found the pieces that glue to the end of the pipe. So I compared everything between the old and new filter and the main difference is the size of the inlet/outlet unions and the . (See attached photos) and a large size glue piece and screw on pieces. My filter is over 15 years so Jandy must...

    Filter Plumbing hookup problem

Return is not possible. My last question is will black ABS plumbing work in lieu of PVC. From what I understand it is for low pressure installations and I am not sure if pool pump plumbing is considered low pressure.

    Filter Plumbing hookup problem

I bought new filter from a private seller so it will be hard to return. They said the bought from dealer. It appears to be new tank and other parts are in pristine condition. Price was 1/3 of what you pay from dealer and I am trying to make work. I can not use fittings from old tank on new one...

    Filter Plumbing hookup problem

The model number for both the old and new filter is CL460. The only difference appears to be the diameter of the female threads that are on the outside of the unions (maybe I am using the wrong terminology for them but they are the parts that go through the body of the tank and there is one...

    Filter Plumbing hookup problem

You are right the previous photo is of the old filter and plumbing that attaches to it I bought the new filter on line and it did not come in a Jandy box. It did come with the adapters shown in the attached photo. These adapters are not compatible for hookup to the existing plumbing shown in...

    Filter Plumbing hookup problem

So yes the new filter has unions on them. The filter however did not come with the connectors that you install on the pipe that connects to the filter inlet and outlet ports. (See attached photo). When I tried to screw on the pipe using the connectors already on it theydo not screw on as the new...

    Filter Plumbing hookup problem

Since I purchased the same make and model number for the replacement filter I would have thought that I would have been able to connect the existing plumbing to it. After going to several hardware stores to find the plumbing I was told that the threads for pool plumbing were different than one...

    Filter Plumbing hookup problem

Installed a new Jandy CL 460 pool filter to replace the existing model I had that had worn out. The must have changed the thread size on this newer one as my existing plumbing will not thread onto the inlet and outlet connector as the area larger in diameter. I went to both hardware and local...

    Filter Plumbing hookup problem

I recently purchased a replacement Jandy CL 460 cartr pool filter. It is to replace the existing same model. When I went to hook up the inlet and outlet fittings on the filter to the pool plumbing I discovered that the scree on connectors on plumbing are to small to screw onto the filter...

    Pump Priming Problems

The pump did not lose prime it just never passed startup prime and made it to set running. Without diverting the return water though the dedicated pool sweep return line everything works OK.
