    New Pool in Austin!

We have water! No chemicals yet. It should be slightly less green when it is balanced but I actually love the color! Pebble Sheen Blue Granite!!!

Baja Shelf / Tanning Ledge Depth -- what do you like and why?

We ended up changing it to 12" water depth but are still waiting for the pool to be filled. I think 12-18 inches of water seems like a really nice amount for young kids playing. I originally wanted two of the deep style of ledge loungers but now I think we will wait on the loungers until the...

    New Pool in Austin!

The left is oak and I’m not sure about the right. It drops its leaves all in one week each fall but doesn’t drop anything during the rest of the year. You can’t tell from the angle but that one is actually pretty far back from the pool. We live in Austin where you have to write to the city...

    New Pool in Austin!

You’d better believe I’m out there enjoying that unfinished deck after that entire area has been piles and valleys of mud for 8 months!!!!! 🤣 We also enjoyed a glass of wine sitting on the hot tub coping the other night. This pool was supposed to be finished last September and we are going to...

    New Pool in Austin!

Moving at a snail's pace but should have Sundek coating in 2 weeks and Pebble Sheen (blue granite) in 3 weeks. Supposedly.

Redid the tiles with the vertical offset pattern!

    New Pool in Austin!

Today they removed ALL of the limestone subway tiles and they are going to re-order everything. I feel so wasteful but it wasn't what I asked for. :(

    New Pool in Austin!

Second question of the day... sorry but we plan on talking to the builder tomorrow to see what our options are... Would it bother you that the blue/gray mosaic tile does not go all the way around the pool? I asked for it to go at the bottom the raised bond beam so that the darker waterline...

    New Pool in Austin!

Thanks, I was told you don't want to do that wide of a tile on a curved surface because the edges will look like they are popping off. That's why we asked for vertical... but came home to find it horizontal.

Which do you prefer? Would you be upset if you asked for one and got the other?

Starting a new pool build in austin (like everyone else..)

We signed ours in Austin in May 2020 and still don't have gunite. Probably around March for us too. So frustrating!

Starting a new pool build in austin (like everyone else..)

You are moving so much faster than we are, and I'm also in Northwest Austin! We are on week 8 after the dig and still no gunite. The rebar did go in right after the dig, and plumbing was pretty quick, but our builder says there's a big delay on gunite in Austin. Not sure if that is just the...

    New Pool in Austin!

Thank you! This is the look we are going for with the spa! Ours will be 3 layers though since it’s 18” not 12” like this one!

    New Pool in Austin!

We're still a week or two away from shotcrete, but I chose the coping (buff Lueders), waterline tile (Aquabella Bora Bora Marine 1x2 subway tile), and the outside of the spa (Patara Stone Fossil Stone 3x6 subway limestone tiles). Going with Blue Granite pebble sheen.

    New Pool in Austin!

I think we may actually be done with the dig?!? I think the next step is the wood forms and rebar? Still trying to decide between Blue Surf and Blue Granite pebble sheen!!! Or a new somewhat tempting option, Wet Edge Primera Stone.

Two days of digging down, 3(?) to go!!! Running into lots of rocks and roots.

We finally got our permit on Monday, it "only" took 4.5 months! They are drawing out the perimeter today!

Baja Shelf / Tanning Ledge Depth -- what do you like and why?

I think it would depend on the furniture. I could definitely see normal Adirondack chairs floating away in that much water but the Ledge Loungers or similar brands have holes where they fill up with water so they are very heavy. I think I saw someone on here post that they leaned their normal...

Baja Shelf / Tanning Ledge Depth -- what do you like and why?

Following! We chose 9 inches of water on ours too, but we are STILL waiting for a city permit after applying in June. I am sure I have time to change it so I would like to hear people's feedback too! Seems like 6 inches is the most common but that didn't seem like enough for me. I plan on...

    New Pool in Austin!

Well it's been almost 8 weeks now and no permit yet! We haven't even gotten to the tile selection yet so unfortunately I can't help anyone there. We have a crew here now demolishing our old patio (apparently a permit is not needed for that step), so I really hope everything gets approved! I...

Sitting in front of a spa spillover?

Our builder designed a 4 foot spillover from the spa to the pool, which looks nice, but I haven't been in a spa with such a large spillover. Would this make the seating any less desirable or comfortable if your back is on the spillover section? I don't want to lose 4 feet of seating space...

    New Pool in Austin!

Wow 4 days in Round Rock?!?! I don't know what takes so long but I have heard "minimum" of 3 weeks in Austin but I should expect 5. I can't tell whether Covid will speed things up or slow them down. Our builder seems extremely busy, he says everyone is stuck at home realizing they need a...

    New Pool in Austin!

We are under contract now, so this will be where I post updates in case anyone wants to follow along! Hoping to have the permits submitted by next Friday (May 22), then approved about 5 weeks later (June 26). The builder then has 90 business days if there are no delays, although he said his...
