How do I replace the easy set cartridge filter with a larger intex salt system pls?

Greetings: I need guidance, please. My ancient 18' steel side pool liner fell apart 2 yrs ago right after I had a replacement salt system installed. The pool is gone, and I plan to put in its place asap a 15x33 intex easy set to get by on (still boxed/sealed). I want to upgrade that easy set...

Is it OK that I must fill 15x33 Easy Set (inflatable ring) over 3? days due to well limitations pls?

Thank you for such a rapid reply. May I ask if you can recommend the mils or how thick the tarp should be? Am I trying to block weeds with it? I think 11 mils is about a medium thick; there are so many choices though. Much appreciated.

Is it OK that I must fill 15x33 Easy Set (inflatable ring) over 3? days due to well limitations pls?

Greetings. My 18' steel wall pool aged out and I decided to get what hopefully will be an easy-breezy inflatable until I decide what to do next. It's a 15 x 33 Easy Set inflatable ring pool (still in the box). My steel-side took about 3 days each year to fill back in above the skimmer. The...

Possibly Air Pocket Issues? Intex CS15110 Sand/Salt System

Re: Possibly Air Pocket Issues? Intex CS15110 Sand/Salt Sys Dave, your answers have confirmed some of my own conclusions, thank you. As to that bubble - it wasn't there last year (sorry for being repetitive), so it makes me wonder if there is still an air suction problem. As you said, I will...

Possibly Air Pocket Issues? Intex CS15110 Sand/Salt System

Re: Possibly Air Pocket Issues? Intex CS15110 Sand/Salt Sys I haven't had a chance to do your suggestion on the basket drain knob yet since I just read it, but there has been some progress. I sincerely hope you don't mind that I have asked some questions below that will help me understand...

Possibly Air Pocket Issues? Intex CS15110 Sand/Salt System

Re: Possibly Air Pocket Issues? Intex CS15110 Sand/Salt Sys Oh sure, thanks, that's the one I've 'burped' from time to time in attempts to get the water to fill; otherwise it's tight. After awhile of this agonizing journey it occurred to me to leave it alone because the pressure is what...

Possibly Air Pocket Issues? Intex CS15110 Sand/Salt System

Re: Possibly Air Pocket Issues? Intex CS15110 Sand/Salt Sys Yes, I agree - you've taught me that, and the searching I've done since indicates exactly what you say. I apologize, I do not know what the drain plug on the pump is. That's not the drain plug on the sand ball, is it? If yes, I...

Possibly Air Pocket Issues? Intex CS15110 Sand/Salt System

Re: Possibly Air Pocket Issues? Intex CS15110 Sand/Salt Sys New Update: Still have the suction side low water and low/no pressure problems. What I've done since last update: 1) Removed the gaskets on the pump basket, checked them for damage (pump is new last summer) and put silicone on...

Possibly Air Pocket Issues? Intex CS15110 Sand/Salt System

Re: Possibly Air Pocket Issues? Intex CS15110 Sand/Salt Sys Update: Removing the heater did nothing. Same exact issues as before. I remember now why it was so hard to make changes; it was a super time-consuming hassle putting the adapter on in place of the black heater hose, which fit...

Possibly Air Pocket Issues? Intex CS15110 Sand/Salt System

Re: Possibly Air Pocket Issues? Intex CS15110 Sand/Salt Sys Hmmm. I may be exacerbating this whole problem because I only have all the fittings hand tightened down to where they don't leak, so that I could open them up again. In my novice ignorance, somewhere I dreamed up the idea that...

Possibly Air Pocket Issues? Intex CS15110 Sand/Salt System

Re: Possibly Air Pocket Issues? Intex CS15110 Sand/Salt Sys Yes, there's no alternative. I'll just close the levers and hope I can get everything back if it doesn't work. By the way, the instruction page was for the wrong model. It doesn't change much, but I'm attaching the correct one...

Possibly Air Pocket Issues? Intex CS15110 Sand/Salt System

Re: Possibly Air Pocket Issues? Intex CS15110 Sand/Salt Sys Right, that was my first thought, but I'm concerned about the hookup using the adapter. Do you think I can get the intex hose to fit by just putting the gray nut thing on the pipe? The left and right sides look a little different to...

Possibly Air Pocket Issues? Intex CS15110 Sand/Salt System

Re: Possibly Air Pocket Issues? Intex CS15110 Sand/Salt Sys What you said makes perfect sense of course, trying the obvious first. I'm just trying to make sure I'm communicating clearly. But that was why I thought about trying to disconnect the heater entirely and then see how it works. I...

Re: Possibly Air Pocket Issues? Intex CS15110 Sand/Salt Sys Hi Dave - Thank you for helping. Let me make sure I was clear that this setup worked fine last year. *Are you saying I may have the hoses not tight and there is an air leak? I noticed again this morning, the 'default water...

Thank you - that was very helpful, including your reinforcement of the warning in the conversion article on the site that adding those extras raises other chemical levels, so don't do it.

Thanks, folks. The stories I read, it seems to take 2 weeks. Yes, the baqua thread will be better. I had SO many issues to ask about initially and did not know where to begin. After reading these replies today, I feel a bit more sorted out and more knowledgeable about tackling this project.

Well guess what, there's no sewer. I'm out in the woods here and on septic! I checked out that test, thanks very much. One thing I learned today is that refills will be a fact of life when converting. Can anyone recommend how much refill product I should plan to order? No point in skimping...

Hi - Congratulations on your success! I hope to be where you're at, this season. Please - can you tell me how much chlorine you used in all? I'm trying to estimate ahead of time generally how much it will take. I have 8000+/- gallons and am converting green goo. Thank you from Catherine.

Well, all this is helpful and plenty to think about, thank you everybody for your kind help. CONCLUSIONS: After reading more since I posted this topic, here's what I've concluded. ANYONE please correct me: 1) There are no shortcuts to shock cleaning up the algae. And there's no point in...

Pls Help: Major Problems after 5 Yrs of a Trouble-Free Pool

I'm confused because the filter/motor seller said it won't run unless I kill the algae 'first'. But how do I kill the algae when the filter won't stay running?? Somewhere else I read that the algae won't sink to the bottom to be vac'd up unless it is 'dead' first. So I need to kill it. And I...

I'm referring to having to clean the brand new cartridge filter every 15 minutes of use because the pool is so full of algae. I thought cartridge filters were supposed to be easy to maintain. The sand filter is gone. This is the new replacement. My issue is that apparently cartridge filters...

Pls Help: Major Problems after 5 Yrs of a Trouble-Free Pool

To Dave - Yes, I had decided after landing here to listen to the forum experts and switch to chlorine. My question post is so rambling, it's probably hard to narrow down what I'm even asking. In a nutshell: I'm off track because everything that used to work - or I 'thought' I knew - is...

Pls Help: Major Problems after 5 Yrs of a Trouble-Free Pool

OK - I've looked at the petal fountain; pretty neat idea. So - what you're saying is you put a hose to your 'return' to keep the old water out at that point. If I just undid the hose on the return side of the filter, or undid the hose on the outside of the return, would that be the same thing...

Pls Help: Major Problems after 5 Yrs of a Trouble-Free Pool

PS - I forgot to add - I put in a whole bottle of some kind of blue algicide from home depot. It did zero on the algae - and they were kind enough to take it back. *However* - there was a warning on the bottle (which I read 'after' using it!) that it is very toxic to your skin (i had my arms...
