You will probably find out that those covers have a slow leak. I still had to drain below the skimmer because of that cover leaking. I did not want a slow leak into my skimmer and ice building up over the winter and i figured with the pool being closed for about 7 monts that would add up to be...

Dont worry about closing the pool right now. Get it all cleaned up and clear first that way you will be in good shape come spring. Follow the advise from the great people on here and you will have a sparkling pool all next summer.

Sounds like a product you can buy as a combo pack with pucks. ...lol I can hear the pool store now...here buy this bucket of pucks and get this cya remover free. Directions will say...add cya remover when pool turns cloudy or green.

I would look at it this way....its alot quicker and easier to get the fc reading to the proper level asap than to fix cloudy / green water later.

If it were me i would trim it to fit. I wouldn't let it over the sides ....good gust of wind and your cover is gone

I test almost every evening....have only skipped testing 3 times or so this season. Thats only because the pool wasn't used and cover was on all day. Like tim5055 said....you will get your pool figured out on what it needs/ wants each day. I will say the days i skipped was early in the season...
