Just opened pool and Zero CC

The 50/50 pool water/tap water resulted in 6PPM. I was finally able to get a reading from the pool after that and it is 11PPM. I'll check again in the morning. It seems to have fixed itself.

Just opened pool and Zero CC

Tested my tap water and recorded 2ppm. So reagents are good. I guess I'll just do nothing and wait to see if it becomes testable when the chlorine level drops. It's somewhat unsettling not knowing how high it is. I have never had this issue in the past nine years. I have successfully tested with...

Just opened pool and Zero CC

The chemicals were purchased on March 23, 2023. I cannot find any details about the OTO chlorine test (R-104).

The color of the new powder is white. No grey tint at all, which I thought unusual.

It'll probably take a few days before I receive the new R0870 in the mail, but I'll be sure to come back and post the results. Thank you all for your support!

Just opened pool and Zero CC

Completed the 10 minute drill with no changes using the R0870. I did a second test with the K-1000 test kit and that one is showing that there is chlorine present. I must have a bad batch of R0870. To be sure, I added a drop of bleach to the 10ml and then added the R0870 and other than a micro...

I filled the holder to 10ml and then added one scoop of r-0870 and it did not turn pink.

"To confirm ... you should be doing the FAS-DPD (powder & drops) in a 25ml tube. Fill the tube to 10ml. Then add one generous scoop of R-0870 powder and start mixing. Add R-0871 drops until clear and divide the result in half. Example: 10 drops to clear equals an FC of 5." That is what I am doing.

Just opened pool and Zero CC

I am not focused on CC, I am just reporting all the numbers from the instructions that came with my Tftestkits TF-100 FAS-DPD Pool Water Test Kit.

So it's safe to just keep adding liquid bleach by the gallon until I get a FC reading? I would have thought the initial 4 gallons would have shown something. Then I was more surprised that the HTH shock did not do anything either.

Just opened pool and Zero CC

I opened my 15k gallon inground plaster pool two days ago. Water is clear but I am unable to get any reading for CC or FC. Current readings are: CC: 0 FC: 0 TC: 0 CH: 450 TA: 80 CYA: 75 PH: 7.4 Salt: 4100 Borate: 30 Temp: 71 Yesterday I added 4 gallons of 7% liquid bleach and still got zero CC...

Looking for Builder in Northeast Georgia for resurface

Hello, I live in the very northeast corner of Georgia and I am searching for a builder to resurface my 15,000 sq ft free form plaster pool and small spa. I recently purchased my home here and the pool is 13 years old. Plaster appears to be in relatively good condition. Had the all plumbing...

So you want to add borates to your pool--Why and How

Jason, That answers my question. Once the FC drops below 10 PPM, I'll adjust my TA and pH and then follow the instructions at the beginning of this thread to add the borax and muriatic acid. Thank you!

So you want to add borates to your pool--Why and How

I just finished SLAMing my pool and desire to add borates. Do I need to wait for the FC level (28) to drop before adding the borax and acid?

    Silky Swim Goodbye DRY

I checked my chemistry again with the TF-100 and discovered very low FC level and decided to SLAM. Pool is clearing now and I cannot say that the Silky Swim was responsible for my cloudiness. However, I will not add it again. I plan to convert to a SWG in the near future which should provide the...

    Silky Swim Goodbye DRY

I tried Silky Swim and it clouded the water. I a now at a loss to get it back to the crystal clear it was prior to adding it. Hope I do not have to drain and replace the water. It's been almost a week now and water remains cloudy. Chemical levels show no changes, just the added cloudiness. I...
