Who's up for a challenge? Dark green monster!

Good call Kim! The older son is 13 and slightly taller than I am. The younger boy had on his floaties but you're right, the colors of his swimsuit were bright and we didn't leave him alone in the pool. How do I get rid of the cloudiness? Is that the left over algae that is dead or dying?

Who's up for a challenge? Dark green monster!

Here are the unknown water lifeforms I found in the strainer. A few might be flying insects which just got caught in the strainer but "A" and "B" I've seen in the water several times. "C", "D" and "F" look like tiny caterpillars or millipedes while "E" looks like a flying insect. "A" have...

Who's up for a challenge? Dark green monster!

So I talked my older son into being the "lucky" one who gets to be the first one into the pool this year. Excited by the offer (and with the bribe of video game time) he jumped into the pool with the brush that connects to the vacuum. I'm assuming most of whatever was on the bottom has been...

You have no idea how hard it was to come clean and post that I missed that step. :D I should have done it then. My bad and I apologize. Luckily this is a forgiving group...

Who's up for a challenge? Dark green monster!

I think it was frogs legs. The only things left were the leg bones attached via what skin was left. It was nasty and the water was incredibly dark green and smelled so yummy. Took three or four backwashes to get the water pressure down again. Just gross. Never again will I put a cover on...

Who's up for a challenge? Dark green monster!

Good evening. Quick update! So I checked the FC and it wasn't above 2! I didn't understand what was going on since the water was getting so much clearer but it just won't get past that cloudy mark. I'm including the pic from yesterday. After dumping in 4 gallons of 8.25% bleach into the...

Who's up for a challenge? Dark green monster!

AimeeH! Hey friend. Took this picture while I was out working on the yard. I may have taken it a little too late to get the proper color of the pool but it is soooooo close! I can almost see the bottom of the pool again. I was starting to wonder if it was down there. :) Below is the...

Who's up for a challenge? Dark green monster!

Nice thunderstorm rolled in yesterday afternoon which canceled my plans for an updated pic. In between the lightning around 3pm, I was able to add some more bleach (116oz of 5%) to the pool however I didn't grab a reading as I didn't want my hand in the pool water with lightning. The storm...

Who's up for a challenge? Dark green monster!

Good question Kim! I took everything out of the pool except that dang chlorine tablet dispenser which will get yanked out as soon as I go back out to the pool. **At the 11 FC mark! Updated picture coming up.

    Different versions of R-0871?

Under normal conditions, I would say that I would need just an average amount but as I am fighting a green monster and running a lot of tests, I need A LOT of the FC testing solution. Thanks everyone~

Gotcha! I set up a photobucket account last night but didn't want to spam the thread with pics but if you're asking, then it would be wrong of me to not oblige. :D *Pic from afternoon of 5/31

    Different versions of R-0871?

Hey there! I agree that it will be delivered faster than anywhere else BUT, here is the price difference which is key for me. I'm not going to list the site, only the price and qty. I bought my tf-100 and have recommended it to everyone else but I need to refill one item. If there is price...

Can't shake this green cloudy pool - new pool owner

I started the battle with the green monster in my pool a few days after receiving my TF-100 pool test kit. These folks on this site know their game better than any other site or pool store, guaranteed. Because of the difference between the two groups (one is here volunteering their years and...

    Different versions of R-0871?

Hey TFP folks! Here's the question. Through the process of cleaning my green monster, I am starting to run low on the R-0871 that came in my TF-100 kit. After doing a search online for a refill bottle, I noticed many different versions or abbreviations after the name. Is there a difference...

Who's up for a challenge? Dark green monster!

Good morning! I just checked the pool this morning and was confused that my FC levels were so high. After doing a second test, I noticed I was putting in too much 0870 in the first test which was causing the FC to test high, way high. The second test showed an FC level of 8 (first test showed...

Who's up for a challenge? Dark green monster!

Based on what I had read, I thought this was the "target". CYA 30 Min 2 Target 4 Shock FC 12 Post #27 from Divin Dave said to use those numbers. I didn't see any numbers in your last response. Is there a different target number I should be aiming for? Where did I misunderstand? - - -...

Who's up for a challenge? Dark green monster!

Hey Beens! Thanks for the information. Right now I'm balancing the excitement of seeing progress and burning through my testing chemicals. ;) I've been testing every 60-90 minutes and will be doing another around 4pm EST. The last reading was FC 2.5 and my goal is 4 so I keep dumping more...

Who's up for a challenge? Dark green monster!

Hi everyone. Just a quick update. I just dropped 45oz of 8.25% bleach into the pool (@ 1:00pm). I will check the FC again at 2pm to see what is happening in there. I will post back what I find. The clean pressure reading is 17-18. I had been backwashing it when it hit 21-22ish which is...
