I'm more concerned about surface area, in terms of do I have enough so that 4-6 people can be on floats at the same time? (We are a family of four, and may have another family of four visit frequently).

The advantage of a spa on the far side of the pool, or something like that, is that you can make it a focal point or a centerpiece to the design, etc. If you have a fountain in the middle of it, that adds to it. Plus - you can don't have to worry about the view blocking the pool. The downside...

Forgive my ignorance, so maybe the experienced can offer some insight, but I don't understand how things like a spa can accidentally end up 1 foot larger. I've a couple other examples. I few inch difference, I can understand, but a whole foot? Don't they paint the outline on the ground first...
