Hayward SX244K Top Closure Dome Replacement for Hayward Sand Filter (Too Tight)

These is a o-ring and it isn't in the way of making it flush. I have tried lubing without any success of getting it to fit. I have tried a mallet to beat the sucker on without any luck. The diameter dome is stopping it from seating all the way down. When it is seated a sorta two piece band goes...

Hayward SX244K Top Closure Dome Replacement for Hayward Sand Filter (Too Tight)

Attached you will see the original old one with the cracks and see how it sits flush. The newer one is the one with the gap though it is also made by Hayward. In some of the reviews you will see how it says the newer one is 5cm larger not allowing it to sit flush. I appreciate any feedback on...

Good outer pipe glue / Spa draining into pool

So I think I found the culprit to why my spa is draining a few inches after the pool equipment is turned off. Though I have changed all the check valves and now have some o-rings coming for all the 3-way valves, I now have another issue. I have an 4 stage in-ground pool cleaner, and have it...

Spa Draining After Equipment Goes Off

Hello... I was curious if anyone can tell me why my in-ground spa drains about 50% just under the therapy jets after I turn off the pool equipment? I assume it's a faulty check valve, but curious if there are steps I should take to eliminate possibilities? Thanks in advance!

    [[FC Shock Level Question]]

Hello... So I just drained over 2/3 of our pool and going to SLAM it. I have ran the tests for my PH and the levels are at 7.5... I am curious how much chlorine/bleach I should use? After running the test it looks like I have .5ppm, and I am confused at what level I should SLAM it to as the...

[NEED ADVICE] - Draining Pool 50% Cause CYA Is 110

if that the case with your back to the sun (both other times I didn't test that way) I am showing it at 150. I have tested it both by filling it up to 7 with pool water and 3.5 with pool water and 3.5 with tap water. I feel pretty confident that it is at 150 with my back to the sun. Thanks!

[NEED ADVICE] - Draining Pool 50% Cause CYA Is 110

Hello... so I am going to attempt to drain my pool 50% using my sand filter as my source. Here is my concern and curious if I should even be doing it this way. The only returns on my pool are through my skimmer and leaf vac. My thoughts are to turn the valve by my equipment to only pull from the...

    Fixing A Leaky Union

Hello... I was curious any advice on replacing what seems to be a broken union. I have seen it leaking through the crack so not sure if I need to replace the whole thing or just the cracked band looking part? Also, is this something a beginner with no plumbing experience attempt doing, or is...

    Pool Constantly Cloudy

Hey @linen... So prior to draining the pool, I noticed after reading the SLAM page several times that I will need to check my FC level using the FAS-DPD you suggested I purchase. However I am only use to checking using the basic Taylor tester... I was curious if you wouldn't mind sharing where...

    Pool Constantly Cloudy

thanks @techguy, yeah it seems to be pretty inexpensive considering here in PHX... do I need to turn off the water so the pool doesn't continue to fill itself up during this process... I do know there is a automatic water filler on the pool is why I ask

Looks like a little over 50... so 102-105 range... As an update, I got home after running the filter all day and the water is much clearer... not crystal where I would expect it to be, but much clearer (as in I can make out the pop up cleaners at the bottom. Pool Constantly Cloudy

Hey @linen... so I got the Taylor kit... ouch expensive... teh CYA is showing extremely high (see attached image is where I stopped seeing the black dot). You mentioned that I should do a partial drain... I was curious two things here: 1) How much of the pool should I drain? 2) And is it okay...

    Pool Constantly Cloudy

Thanks again @linen... and why I posted the results and experience so far... I will do just that, get the kit and test for myself the CYA levels. Just to be clear if you don't mind... you are suggesting I do the following and in this order. 1) Stop listening to pool store people that are just...

    Pool Constantly Cloudy

thanks @linen for the quick reply. So our CYA levels are at 110 and the Phosphate level was at 2000 Our local Leslie Pool supply suggested that the cloudy is caused by old algae and that our sand filter can't filter that out. They suggested we use a product called "pool first aid", and then...

    Pool Constantly Cloudy

Hello all! and yes I am not only a newbie to the forum, but also a newbie to pools. I am leaning on advice here as I have spoken to several "pool guys" along with my local pool supply company but can't seem to be getting our pool crystal clear. Our pool chemical tests show that our pool is...
