Getting ready to sell our house. Had pressure washing done including around the pool. The concrete was dark in areas. It is a concern if some of this gets into the pool? Should I SLAM as a preventative?
Thank you! Exactly what I needed. Just one more thing. With a vinyl liner, I've never paid much attention to CH. I've seen differing views of that at TFP.
It's been 11 years since I've balanced new pool water but we just installed a new pool liner and refilled the pool. Please refresh my memory on what order I should add the products in order to balance properly.
In the last few days, we have encountered MANY bees around our pool. They seem to like the overflow drain cover and the pool floats. This is the first time in 11 years of pool ownership that we have had this problem. Any ideas on how to proceed?
I thought CYA was supposed to help stabilize the FC level and protect it from sunlight. Apparently I'm not thinking right. I don't quite understand it but I will defer to the experts. Thank you!
My local Home Depot didn't have any in stock but the next closest had a bunch. I ordered 4 2-packs online and just picked it up. I'll check on the 3-pack next time. Still a good deal vs paying $5.29 for 7.5% 121oz.
Thank you for all the responses!
I started a SLAM on Sunday and the sun is really doing a number on my FC levels during the day. Yesterday I was losing up to 9ppm in just 3-4 hours but only 2ppm overnite. My CYA was 60 when I started; is it okay to add CYA to help keep the FC from dropping so much during the day? I'm willing to...
I just wanted to confirm that the following brands are okay to use as liquid chlorine (the ingredients seem to match with regular bleach except 10% sodium hypochlorite). I wasn't sure about the "other ingredients" which is listed on regular bleach and also these products. Both are currently in...
My SWG runs during the middle of the day to compensate for the loss so I'm sure my FC remains at the proper level. I've tested a various times and the numbers are good. I'll try brushing more but I never had a problem there before. It's frustrating because I have been very diligent at keeping...
Spent 6 weeks performing a SLAM in Feb/Mar. Since then pool #s have been spot on and the water crystal clear. Two days ago I noticed algae on two of the ladder steps and also on the walls of that corner of the pool. I was perplexed but I think I know the reason and am looking for confirmation...
I received a flyer in the mail about the "Drinkable Pool Water System"...an AOP system that uses titanium-generated hydroxl radicals. Does anybody have information on this system? Does it work? Is it cost-effective?
I recently performed a SLAM...started on Feb 2 and ended by passing the OCLT on Mar 15....that's 6 weeks! It took a lot of POP and there were many times I was down and frustrated but it worked. It's a good thing it ended on Mar 15 because it was that weekend that bleach became non-existent at...
My chlorinator died in November and, with a very warm winter so far, my pool had become a very dark green. My time has been limited since then but I started to SLAM 8 days ago. As the SLAM progressed and the dark green became a lighter green then grayish green as one would expect. It continues...
My chlorinator died last fall and I haven't had the time to SLAM. So now my pool is a very dark shade of green. I'm in a position now to SLAM which I'm comfortable with. The clear bubble on my filter has no visible algae which it usually does when I get an algae bloom. Do I have a problem that...
Any thoughts on this one? But only 1 year warranty...

My Hayward T-Cell-15 just went out after 10 years. I'm looking online for a replacement but it is confusing because I see such a huge range in prices. Obviously, I don't want to spend any more $$ than I have to but I do want a reliable replacement. Are the Hayward-compatible knock-offs any good...
I didn't do any filter maintenance just replaced the pump. I'll go with the faulty gage and replace it. I've had significant short term water losses before. Thanks for the replies!
Just replaced my pump on Monday (laboring on Labor Day) and it's appears to be running fine. Now my pool level has dropped 1-2 inches and the pressure gage on the sand filter is reading zero. I cannot find any leaks (i.e. no wet areas) anywhere around the exposed plumbing, filter, pump etc. My...
That's the way I wired it. The capacitor blew up the instant I turned the power on. Maybe there's more to it than just the capacitor. I'm giving up on this one and ordering a new pump. This one only lasted 3 years....got 6 out of the previous one.
I will take a pic tomorrow when there's more light. But it is a mess inside. However the wires were in the same position as they were with the old capacitor. Probably miswired but I didn't see anything on the capacitor showing the difference between the terminals.
Okay so I hooked up the new capacitor just like the old one (or so I thought). I removed one wire from the old one and placed it on the same terminal on the new one, etc etc until all three wires were replaced. I then tested the pump and the new capacitor blew up...smoke everywhere. I don't know...
My pump died and I'm hoping it's just the capacitor (the impellor moves freely). I bought a capacitor for less than $7. All the numbers on the new one match the old one except the old one says 124-148uf and the new one says 124-156uf. Will the new one work?
