    IntelliCenter2 Migration to Pentair Home

I thought MyAZpool had greater direct connection with them?

    IntelliCenter2 Migration to Pentair Home

Is there a way someone can recommend a feature for Pentair Home? I love how you can set it to turn on your lights at sunset. I would like to suggest being able to delay for a specified amount of minutes after sunset. I have 3 lights (pool, spa, fountain) and I have my Pentair lights in romance...

    Any interactions with Boric Acid?

Thanks for the reply. I was more concerned with negating the Sodium bicarbonate I added yesterday to bring up my TA. I know that you should not add muriatic acid and bicarbonate at the same time as it negates it. But was wondering about boric acid and if I have to wait, how long?

    Any interactions with Boric Acid?

Collect a sample (44 ml for 4.5 ppm/drop or 25 ml for 7.9 ppm/drop or 50 ml for 4.0 ppm/drop) Add 5 drops of Taylor R-0009 (sulfuric acid; part of TA test) [EDIT] or whatever is needed to get to a yellow color in the subsequent step [END-EDIT] Add 5 drops (maybe less) of Bromotyhmol Blue pH...

    Any interactions with Boric Acid?

Just added some Sodium Bicarbonate to raise TA from 40 to 60. Added muriatic acid the day before to lower pH a tad. Need to add boric acid to raise it 10 ppm for the pool season. Should I wait to add it or is it ok? This is the pure boric acid and not borax.

    Learnings from a TFP follower

Could someome explain to me how 7.8 pH doesn't build scale in simple terms? I'm adhering to it even though imdont completely understand it

    Learnings from a TFP follower

I thought it would be beneficial for others to hear from someone that was not brand new to TFP and had "some" knowledge of pool chemistry. The pool industry really does a good job at making you believe things that are not true and that resulted in my stubbornness to accept the ways of TFP/...

What is the Prowler 920 Dolphin Equivalent?

Spoken like a true TFP member!!!! When you SLAM algae, initially you will get a mixture of dead and alive algae. I think the dead algae is actually smaller. Not sure the fine filters are fine enough to get the dead algae?

    Pentair Prowler 920

Do people get short life out of these because they leave them in the pool? I only plan to drop mine in the pool every 3 weeks or so for the 2 hour cycle during the season, and maybe every 2 month off season. I don't get a lot of debris. I hope leads toma very long lasting unit.

What is the Prowler 920 Dolphin Equivalent?

What is the equivalent to the Prowler 920 from Dolphin? I ask because i want to get filter screens that are finer than the ones imhave and the Pentsir brmaded ones are harder tomfind and more expensive. I also want to know if the finer screens will filter alive and dead algea?

    CC Test

Thanks. Just trying to understand the shade of pink and how faint the indicator is.

    CC Test

Understood. But if you have any leaves in your pool or skimmer , isn’t it likely that you will get a little pink after 1 drop of the reagent?

    CC Test

I wanted to confirm that when you are conducting the CC Taylor reagent test that the shade of pink you will get is very very faint pink when you add the drop(s). its barely "not clear"? Would anyone be willing to post a picture for reference of what you should be looking at?

New borate drop test at piscines-apollo vs. test strip

I found pictures of the shades for Straw Yellow and the other colors your sample should be. Can someone post a picture of the shade of blue that is ideal for the test?

New borate drop test at piscines-apollo vs. test strip

The link for the inexpensive blue BTB is for .04% and the above summarized instructions say add 1 drop of .5%. This threw me off. I added roughly 12 drops of BTB as that's what the math works out to be. (Actually 12.5). It may be more than needed. Can someone post a picture of the blue...

New borate drop test at piscines-apollo vs. test strip

I'm posting this because the thread is getting long. New viewers may not read everything. I was originally not going to process as the materials for some of the items seemed very expensive for a test I would not do very often and the quantity of that item was pretty big. Post #247 has updated...

    Enzymes and oils

When cleaning cartridges filters, it's often recommended to soak filters in TCP to remove oils. Would circulating enzymes in the pool remove and breakdown oils innthe pool and on the csrtrdiges? Seems to be easier

New borate drop test at piscines-apollo vs. test strip

Is this still the best way to test for Borates? I have two of the components from my TA test kit. Everything seems reasonable to purchase to build a kit except for the blue indicator liquid. It's 35 bucks just for that on Amazon.

Should I SLAM or should I continue as is? - FC is climbing

FC seemed to have increased over night. This was most like due to me trying to add a little chlorine to get it back to SLAM level as it decreased 3 ppm during the day. I waited 2 hours to test before the overnight test and that probably was not enough time for the chlorine to mix as I...

Where do you buy your Taylor Test Kits

I already have all the day to day test kits. See post above. I just need the Taylor 1515 to slam. You can read my SLAM progress a d testing in the controlling algae forum

Where do you buy your Taylor Test Kits

I didn't buy a complete test kit to start with and would "add on" as I learned more. I already have a stand alone CYA, TA, FC &pH, salt meter. The kits listed above and in the links seem to be redundant to what I already have. I just need the 1515 so I can SLAM my pool.

Where do you buy your Taylor Test Kits

Bought a Taylor 2515 DPD drop test kit off Amazon. Local pool store does not have this kit as imdont think the masses buy this kit Received product and the reagents are expired. Getting a replacement will probably yield more expired product. Where do you suggest buying this test kit from...

Should I SLAM or should I continue as is? - FC is climbing

Why would you use the 25 ml sample and multiply by .2 instead of the 10ml and multiply by .5 and use less drops in the 1515 DPD kit? The refill for the reagent is as much as the total kit! Also I poured in the SLAM chlorine a few hours ago FC 25 ppm 0 CC (after adding the 5 drops of R0003 the...

Should I SLAM or should I continue as is? - FC is climbing

You are right. with the chlroine at 15 ppm it doesnt take much chlorine to get to 24. Turned off the SWG, dragged my lazy Rear to the pool stopre to get chlorine and it was only a gallon I needed per the pool math. With that being said, I have the black dot test for CYA at home and it said my...

Should I SLAM or should I continue as is? - FC is climbing

If I were to SLAM, I would turn off the SWG per the points you made. The point was, I think the SLAM is for when you have a lot of algea. My SWG which should not be able to keep up during an algae bloom, is not only keeping up but appears to be producing extra chlorine. This would seem to...

Should I SLAM or should I continue as is? - FC is climbing

Over the summer I had a lot of algae on my pebble Tech walls. I suspect now, its because I did not understand that you have to use more chlorine as you add more CYA. I used to keep my CYA at 40ppm, but read a saltwater pool should be at 70. So I did that and kept my FC the same at 3-5. Now...
