Drained pool due to algae build up over winter and…

Day 2: Put 50/50 chlorine/water in a pump sprayer, sprayed down the walls and bottom, then brushed and washed it down. We then had to keep spraying and pumping water out, eventually using a shop vac at the deep end to get the rest of the muck out. The walls and bottom are lightly stained here...

Drained pool due to algae build up over winter and…

Day 1 after drain: my wife and I teamed up to brush the algae off the sides and bottom as the other sprayed it down to the pump in the deep end. There’s a good amount of staining and algae stubbornly stuck to the plaster. Today, I plan to hit the stubborn areas with chlorine and immediately...

Drained pool due to algae build up over winter and…

Now am not sure whether to power wash, acid wash, or chlorine spray the plaster and then wash it down to the deep end submersible pump to clean the brown off. Our pool is in its 3rd year now and has been acid washed once before for plaster color issues. My original plan was to just put some...

iAqualink deck jets stuck "on" but not actually running

I have a Jandy iAqualink setup with a waterfall and deck jets. The system believes the deck jet valve is open, but it's actually not. This happened after a power outage. Is there any way to reset its status? Currently, the reverse of whatever is set is actually what the setting does.

Pool was drained and almost filled, need to warm water for Memorial Day

Long story short, we have been working with the pool company to fix a bad plaster job, and they came out and drained our pool to acid wash it on Wednesday unannounced. It has been filling since, and is now about 4/5ths of the way full. The water is 70° right now. It's 85° outside with a low...

Pump and PVC Melted under Blanket w Halogen Light during TN deep freeze 2024

I have a waterfall and some deck jets on my pool. Left it running in freeze protect mode as this was the recommendation from the builder. One of the skimmers froze up in a way that caused an ice dam and it began to suck some air. This resulted in the pump slightly losing prime and the deck jets...

How to Remove Stairs from Above Ground Pool

When I had an above ground pool, I simply removed the exterior ladder and hand rails on the stairs, then covered it with the stairs left inside the pool. I don't think they are meant to be removed, too heavy.

New gunite pool, issues with chemicals and plaster

Thanks. The PB and plaster company owner visited a couple of days ago. The plaster guy admitted there were flaws in it, but (and honestly, in hindsight, wtf?) explained it away as workmanship issues between individuals on the team and the nature of working with plaster. The plaster guy talked...

New gunite pool, issues with chemicals and plaster

Thanks all. I will get to making these changes. I am curious about the blotching, is this a problem the installer caused? I have a one year warranty with the builder, and have sent an email about it today.

New gunite pool, issues with chemicals and plaster

Construction of our 15000 gallon gunite pool ended about a month ago. It has a salt water chlorine generator, but the salt hasn’t been put in yet. We brushed it twice a day for 2 weeks. The plaster is supposed to be Pebblefina Acquos, but it doesn’t look like it, and I don’t think the flecks...
