Need help diagnosing poor water flow

I closed off the skimmers so it was just pulling from just the spa and the filter still showed 16psi with the same water level in the pump basket (about 75% full). The water level in the spa did drop about 5" but I think that's because the water level was low and there was little spillover from...

Need help diagnosing poor water flow

Thanks for your input. I'll have to manipulate the valves when I'm over there on Friday. To be honest, I never made sense of the valves until I was composing my message and studying the pic. Now it's pretty clear to me. Both floor drains on a single line makes sense too. Thanks for your...

Need help diagnosing poor water flow

I need help and advice regarding my sister-in-law's in-ground pool. Compared to my dinky pool with no diverter valves, this pool is a lot more complicated (19,000 gal with spa, built in the 70's, 2 skimmers and 2 floor drains). The pool was inoperative for many years and was a green swamp with...

Pentair: I’m going to call a “Lemon Alert” on the 3HP VSF pump.

Leslie's...ugh. I had a long exchange with them when a Jacuzzi brand VS pool pump failed under warranty. I had problems with being told, "We'll call you" and months go by. To get any kind of response, what worked for me was to send an email to corporate via the online contact form outlining...

    Maintaining someone else's pool

Did a series of tests last night and found there was no chlorine and CYA. I had purchased 2 gallons of liquid CYA for this pool last year because I knew I wouldn't be able to have her do the sock method. I added a gallon last night and a gallon of 10% FC. Will probably add the other gallon of...

    Maintaining someone else's pool

Pool in question: 20k gallons, in-ground, plaster, DE filter, Jacuzzi VS pump, spa. I've taken over my brother's pool after he passed away last year. At the time, the pump had been inoperative for a while and the pool was a swamp with a lot of tree debris, algae and bugs. I had a company...

    Pool sweep sweephose

Aiming up as in spraying water out of the pool? If so, I highly recommend buying the Tailsweep Pro attachment. After installing it on my cleaner, it rarely sprays water. I see there is also a copycat version on Amazon. Polaris also has a weight which is supposed to help, but it didn't work...

    Telescoping pole and brush diameters

I think it's normal. The pole I'm using is about 1/8" diameter larger than my brush and net. Because of this loose fit, the holes usually get enlarged after a while to where I will cut an inch off and drill new holes.

In search of Filter Bag with Pentair Snaplock opening for a Polaris 280

Re: In search of Filter Bag with Snaplock opening for Polaris 280 This might be a good project for someone with a 3D printer. Just in case you weren't aware, Polaris also makes a bag which has a velcro opening (Model K16).

    Cleaning my bro's pool

Thanks for the help and thoughts guys. Yes...I meant FC, not CH. There is a waste port and I found a flat hose which my brother used to pump out to the storm drain. I know that's not right, so I'll have to extend the hose to the sewer cleanout location in the front yard. My SIL said my...

    Cleaning my bro's pool

Hi folks. I've been following the TFP method for the last 11 years since my pool was built. I have the TF-100 test kit and familiar with the different chemical levels. This message is concerning my brother's swamp of a pool. When he was having pool issues a few years ago, I suggested that he...

    Bad Temp Sensor?

I was investigating why my solar heat wasn't turning on. Going through the diagnostic menu on my Aqua Logic controller, the water temp was reading 113F. Safe to assume the temp sensor is bad? Looks like the correct part may be GLX-PC-12-KIT; can anyone confirm? The listing on Amazon says...

Quality Pool Poles? Average life expectancy?

I'm still using my cheapo 10 year old pole. When the holes became too banged up last year, I cut off a few inches and drilled new holes.

Polaris 360 keeps going on its side

In the manual, if also suggests to remove the head float and shake it to check for water. If there is water, replace the head float. The head float is the white orb attached to the rear of the cleaner body. It also suggests to make sure the hose floats are spaced evenly.

    Replacing cartridges

Not much help, but I have a different System 3 filter and there is a label on the lid which lists the two filters and model numbers. I found that there were no aftermarket sources, so I ordered a set of Sta-Rite branded cartridges on eBay. There is also an alternative retro-fit system. I...

    Motor / Pump pairing question

When I replaced the 48Y motor on my Maxi-Pro with a 56Y 2-speed, I had to order a #C104-79P base. This is the base for the 3HP Maxi-Pro. Look at the parts diagram in the manual for your pump, and see if the largest pump uses a different base than the others. If so, that's probably what you'll...

How to Keep PH Level Stable

In my experience, you're always going to have a rising pH because of the salt water chlorination. It's just a matter of the rate at which it rises.

    Dyna-Glas pump Replacement

I would just put on a new motor. According to the manual, that pump uses a A100ELL. Searching for that model number will cross reference to a replacement. In fact, here's a QA from Inyopools, a trusted source: Pump Motor Replacement

Wiring on a 2 Speed Pump

The photo of your old motor is hard to read, but it's pretty simple. The old common wire goes to "L2", the old high speed wire goes to "L1" and the old low speed wire goes to "A". So if I squint and read your old motor, it's 1 to L2, 2 to L1 and 3/4 to A. Of course green is ground.

    2 speed motor wiring help

If I'm reading your question correctly, the quick and easy way would be to remove the wire from the pump relay and attach two pigtails using a wire nut. A cleaner way would be to use spade connectors and run a jumper from the pump relay to the aux relay. As for pulling the extra wire, I just...

Replace pool pump motor with dual/variable speed, without replacing entire pool pump?

Another option is the Century B2983. At low speed, it draws almost half the current of the motor you linked. The only issue is that the B2983 is a 56Y (6 1/2" diameter) frame motor and I believe your current motor is a 48Y (5 5/8" diameter). Some people say you can remove the existing motor...

Replace pool pump motor with dual/variable speed, without replacing entire pool pump?

I replaced the motor on my 1.5hp Max-E-Pro a couple of years ago with a two speed motor, so it is definitely possible. What is the model number of your current pump: possibly P6RA6G-207L or P6E6G-208L? Also, what is the service factor (s.f.) listed on the plate?

Would like feedback from NorCal folks with Solar Pool heaters

I had a Heliocol system put in by Solaron back in 2009. I don't know how many square feet of panels I have, but my pool is only 450 sf and all of my panels are facing South. I paid $4300 out-the-door. I didn't need a controller since my controller was already compatible. Being in Sacramento...
