I think it's normal. The pole I'm using is about 1/8" diameter larger than my brush and net. Because of this loose fit, the holes usually get enlarged after a while to where I will cut an inch off and drill new holes.

In my experience, you're always going to have a rising pH because of the salt water chlorination. It's just a matter of the rate at which it rises.

The photo of your old motor is hard to read, but it's pretty simple. The old common wire goes to "L2", the old high speed wire goes to "L1" and the old low speed wire goes to "A". So if I squint and read your old motor, it's 1 to L2, 2 to L1 and 3/4 to A. Of course green is ground.
