    Closing water level

the return is just a little below the skimmer. I do not have a vacuum port and use a robot so don't really need one.

    Closing water level

Man that's scary lol. Did the liner stay pretty much put when you changed it out?

    Closing water level

being above ground I will remove the plumbing so if any water does leak in it can run right out. The cover I have for the skimmer is a rectangle ones with foam seals around the edges that you put in from inside the pool. I will be using a solid cover.

    Closing water level

As we approach closing time I am considering some options. Last year I did the 18" below the return and capped the skimmer to prevent stuff from getting inside. This year I am wondering if I can just cap the skimmer and plug the return and leave the water level up? I am in WI so my concern is...

    That is absolutely insane lol

    Cost for in-ground

We are considering moving to a more southern climate in the semi-near future. The housing market is an absolute mess right now. Originally we were hoping to find a place with a nice pool and build a pole barn since you rarely find both on the same property. This is proving to be a huge...

    Borates and TA

My concern is the guide says I want this TA closer to 60 before adding it. With it at 110 will it cause any issues?

    Borates and TA

My TA is at 110. It started out last year well over 200. The PH is moving very slow now so it’s taking forever to get it lower. Do I dare add the borates at this level? If I do the borax/muriatic method will that muriatic lower the TA at the same time or will the borax use it all up? We are...

    Adding a spa

I’m not sure. Kinda tempted to get a fiberglass shell and build from there but definitely more costly.

From a Basic Lawn to Private Resort - We Have A Pool! Controlling Pollen...

Wow prices sure have increased lol. Thank you though. That helps put things in perspective.

    Adding a spa

So we have an above ground pool and just added a huge heater to it. It's a raypak and has a spa mode. How hard would it be to build a spa and run the plumbing through the gas heater? Would it save me much over just getting a regular electric spa? I would likely need to have a separate...

    Borates and pool heaters

borates help with bugs too right? We have a plethora of biting bugs around here and would love to get them to, literally, buzz off

From a Basic Lawn to Private Resort - We Have A Pool! Controlling Pollen...

This has likely been asked but gonna do it again... We are starting to discuss moving away from winter wonderland. Finding a place with a good pool already is a little rough from the looks of it. What is your budget for this project?

    Borates and pool heaters

Just picked up a new raypak cupro nickel heater. My TA is finally approaching the double digits. Will borates cause any issues with the new heater?

    Raypak 266k wiring and timers

The pool filter and salt generator are on a timer. When I install this heater will it need to be on a timer as well or is it smart enough to just wire it direct to the circuit breaker and basically be always on?

    Heater sizing

Yes it has a solar cover on it when not in use.

    Heater sizing

Man that’s a Dang good point! My brain was just in the mode of keeping it at 82 not those early/late days where it would be better to heat it up on a day by day basis

    Heater sizing

15x30 above ground in Wisconsin. Getting a propane heater. Playing with the raypak sizer and trying to decide. Calculator says 8 hours on the 106k for 82 May/september. 6 hours for the 156k. >4 but <6 for the 206k. Plugging the current propane price in gives the same dollar amount for all sizes...

    spray foam insulation?

The main issue with spray foam is that it absolutely does not breath in any way. Moisture can be an issue with existing structures that were not designed around it being there. I would also recommend having a pro, at least, look at it and explain how they would approach the job.

    Robotic cleaner

Amazon's extended warranties are HORRIBLE. On electronics they make you jump through a million hoops before they do anything. I wish Best Buy sold robots, their warranties are exactly what an extended warranty should be. Set it on the counter and walk out with a new one.

    Robotic cleaner

Their prices are solid though you do give up local repair, that said I would only consider a local pool store if they are exceptional and those are rare. I also bought the s200 style in a pentair prowler 920. Thing has been excellent. I think they are the best for the money in that style since...

    Insulating above ground pool

sounds like a recipe for a rusted out wall. You will never prevent moisture from getting between the bubble wrap and the pool wall and with it covered it will just sit there.

Aipers Orca 800 Mate ... or jump up. (1500 Seagull SMOROBOT Tank X11)

That long cord is nice though. It means you can put it in where ever you want and put the power box somewhere convenient. Mine has a 60' cord and my pool is 15x30 and I wouldn't want it any shorter to be honest.

Mind Blown -- no need to keep adding salt?

Being slowly broken down over buying a heater...

We just took a tree down that was shading it out from 2-6pm. So now it basically is full sun from 11am-7/8pm depending on which end of summer we are on. I would love to put the panels on the roof but the roof is east and west so not really great for positioning. Definitely something I am looking...

We are looking into solar. Positioning might be a little painful but I have 10 acres so it could happen with creative plumbing.
