    DE Filter Fingers

So a few weeks ago I had my grandmother stitch them up with carpet thread (really thick, heavy duty stuff). It worked like a charm... but I just took my filter apart again to clean and I have another ripped seam, same location. Pump pressure never goes higher than 12 PSI (10 without DE, 12...

    DE Filter Fingers

Sorry, that sig is old. The pump is a 1HP (the 2HP pump died due to bad bearings - apparently it happened a lot with that particular motor; it was before I knew about this website and purchased a pump from the recommendations of employees at Namco). The problem is that Namco is now out of...

    DE Filter Fingers

Just wondering if anyone has had any luck or tips for repairing a DE filter fingers. My fingers have popped seams (this seems to happen on the regular with this particular manufacturer) and I'm unsure how to proceed to fix them. The hole is about 2" long. Would an RTV type material work in...

My DE filter doesn't have a wand to bump it... The only way to do anything to the fingers is by disassembling the entire filter.

    Just getting frustrated

After 2 straight weeks of maintaining shock level of ~22ppm FC (I've used almost 50 1.5 gallon bottles of bleach) the water is still cloudy. It is much more clear than when I started but it is still cloudy and I suspect that poor water circulation is to blame (despite the 2HP pump). I've been...

5am check vs last night: Last night FC: 21 CC: .5 5am FC: 20 CC: 0 Still doing the shock level, the water is really clearing up but I'm seeing a lot of clear/white leaves floating up. Vacuuming the pool everyday...really surprised the water is clearing up like it is.

    Just getting frustrated

Busy morning but I did get a bottle of bleach in first thing and added another half-bottle about an hour ago test results: FC: 22 CC: 0 Didn't bother with other tests as these are the ones in flux for right now. Gonna order another bottle of the reagents for it (R0871?) because they're...

    Just getting frustrated

Yea, I took that finger that was busted back to the store and they replaced it no problems (because the rip was on the seam and not through the cloth). EDIT - If it is the filter I don't think it's directly the fault of the filter/pump. My guess would be from poor circulation (lack of use and...

So I cancelled my Taylor kit order and bought the one from Leslie's Pool (FAS-DPD test). Here's the most recent results: FC: 24 CC: 0 pH: 7.4 (suspect - used drops) TA: 80 CH: 200 CYA: 50 Water Color: Cloudy blue Visibly the pool is the same as yesterday though I did clean the fingers...

    Just getting frustrated

First thing this morning I dropped another bottle of bleach in, still no noticeable difference between yesterday night and now. Is there anything else that could cause the cloudiness in the water other than algae? It seemed like (last year that is) the pool was clear just lots of leaves...

    Just getting frustrated

Oh yea, I bump it up and check every half-hour on high when we're home, and swap to low when we're not (or sleeping). It's running at 13 PSI right now (clean base of 12).

    Just getting frustrated

Just added a bit more bleach to the pool (been adding about a quarter jug every hour or so except overnight). I am going to take a sample down to Gene Lilly pools tomorrow for a real test (not a dip-test). My kit should be here sometime Monday or Tuesday. There's really no difference...

    Just getting frustrated

I started the pump on high with 12psi and opened it with 15 psi. It wasn't the recommended time to open and clean but I figured I would check anyway. Edit - Update: Water looked a lot more clear this morning, hopefully be able to see the bottom of the pool soon. I have been following the...

Further frustrations!!!!!!!! So I popped open the filter to check and see if it needs cleaning and what do I see? One of the finger's seams was ripped completely. Any DE in that particular finger went flying into the pool (yay!) and I didn't notice (might've happened overnight? I inspected...

Still using crappy drop test (guess-work). Added some more bleach. Drop tests aren't giving accurate results due to chlorine - need my TF kit to hurry up! See attached photos - Day 1/2.

I used (at the direction of Namco) about 3lbs of their stabilizer product. They also tested my water and gave me the readings on page 1. I am going to use the 6-way hth test kit from Walmart (borrow my neighbor's) today after work while waiting for the tf-50 kit to come in (ordered yesterday)...

It's not, I used a Fischer scientific digital with reagents to counteract chlorine readings. We use them at work all the time to bypass chlorides in materials we use at work (industrial chemical engineer by trade).
