Dolphin Nautilus Plus with CleverClean REVIEW

Not sure if I should be happy that I cleaned out a small snake from the filter or concerned that I cleaned out a small snake from the filter. This drought is just brutal. Sent from my LG-H918 using Tapatalk

Dolphin Nautilus Plus with CleverClean REVIEW

So far it's working well. Every couple of cycles I clean out the filters. So much sand and small pebbles caught in the filters. It did manage to rip off one of my eyeball with cover though. Oops! It makes a decent attempt at climbing the stairs but has gotten stuck needing rescue. Overall...

Dolphin Nautilus Plus with CleverClean REVIEW

Well the Dolphin came in yesterday with a caddy. Dropped it in, ran a cycle, and then took it out to clean the mesh screens. The amount of junk was incredible. Ill run it today with the filters in. Pool is now cloudy beyond belief. Didn't realize how much stuff my MX8 didn't pick up. Dumb...

Dolphin Nautilus Plus with CleverClean REVIEW

Noticed you've had this a month now. How's it working out so far? My MX8 is falling apart after 6 years, literally, so its time to replace. I'm running an enclosed rectangular pool with some steps on shallow end and a step in the deep end. 11k so a bit on the small side. Thoughts with your...

    Replacing Failed Single Speed Pump

Its a bad angle but I have about 3 inches of clearance right now. Until I can get someone to break the slab and replumb I'm hoping this holds for now. Sent from my LG-H918 using Tapatalk

    Replacing Failed Single Speed Pump

Is it pretty? Not really. But I had to redo some of the plumbing. Had minor issues with electrical. Biggest pain in the you know what. But it's currently priming with no leaks. I'm calling this a success. Thanks all! Sent from my LG-H918 using Tapatalk

    Replacing Failed Single Speed Pump

Actually, I have some spare bullnose coping from our pool remodel that might work. I'll try that tomorrow before the kids are home.

    Replacing Failed Single Speed Pump

I used a patio paver to bring the pump up but I'm still a bit short. Probably need to cut a patio paver in half to get an extra half inch of height. I could go find a 1.5 inch paver if that's the route to go. I wasn't sure how frowned upon it was to use shims under a pool pump.

    Replacing Failed Single Speed Pump

Went from being an easy swap to... First question. How bad is it if I place the pump on some stands? Sloppy I know. If I'm going to re-pipe, might as well do it well. I thought the system was on 2 inch PVC but apparently its 1.5 into the pump and 2 going out to the filter. Thoughts...

Looks like the Superflo 1.5hp runs on 110 or 220 so ill just swap the pumps out. Sent from my LG-H918 using Tapatalk

    Replacing Failed Single Speed Pump

Looks like wires are 12awg which can be indicative of a hot white. Can't I just turn power on and check voltage across black/ground and white/ground? Sent from my LG-H918 using Tapatalk

    Replacing Failed Single Speed Pump

Yeah it was hooked to a timer. The romex comes from the timer to the pump. The outside of the pump has a bare wire for ground. With the way this house was wired, I question everything. Ill open up the timer box once I get back. Theoretically, the white could also be a hot but I need to check...

    Replacing Failed Single Speed Pump

If someone can confirm this is wired 220V I'd appreciate it. Pump motor condition. Definitely time to replace. And new pump. I was THAT close... I don't think there's a way to extend without cutting off the union connector though. I'm thinking cutting the pipe as far away from the T on...

    Replacing Failed Single Speed Pump

The three pipes in the concrete near the pump basket go to the main drain, skimmer, and vacuum port. If I remember (I need to relabel), it was main drain, skimmer and vacuum from left to right on the photo but I didn't label them properly when I first bought the house many years ago. Learned...

    Replacing Failed Single Speed Pump

I've worked on some sprinkler repairs and our disposal under the sink which needed some PVC cutting. It wasn't terrible just time consuming. Some primer and pool glue and I should be good to go, right? Hah! Ill verify but I'm almost positive its 220 coming into the motor. You are correct in...

    Replacing Failed Single Speed Pump

Not sure if I'm using the online calculators correctly, but if I theoretically purchased the 011018 VS 3HP and ran that at 1000 rpm for 8 hours to get a single pool turnover, that should save me upwards of $800 per year? Is the ROI on VS motors here in Florida that quick since we run these...

    Replacing Failed Single Speed Pump

I'm thinking I can self install this. I've converted light switches to a zwave network and installed my own garbage disposal under the sink. Current system is below. Current pump is a 1HP Marathon Electric. I recall replacing the impeller on it when we moved in about 8 years ago. It's time to...

    Replacing Failed Single Speed Pump

Evening all! Yes, another "what pump should I buy" question! My 1HP single speed pump died. Initial reaction was to replace with something similar, however, I did some reading on the dual/variable speed pumps which has me intrigued. Location: FL 11,000 Gallon Pool 2 inlet jets / 1 skimmer /...

[Completed] Resurfacing - Palm Harbor, FL

All the work is being done by Freestyle Pools. I'm sure they farm out some of the work like the coping. The reason the coping is how it is was due to the fact that the pool itself was not level when it was built or it's settled. By mudding up the coping, they were able to get a level...

[Completed] Resurfacing - Palm Harbor, FL

Hey! We're in the queue for redoing our pool deck. We are placing thin pavers over the existing pool deck, adding a 3 inch warthog removal drain which will replace our french drain, then cutting some concrete on the outside of the pool cage and routing the drain into the backyard. We're...

Newbie in FL: Just signed for pool build. Questions.

Hail fellow Pinellas friend! Once construction begins, pick up a TFT Test Kit from our resident chemist. I'd recommend picking up the magnetic speedstir as it can improve the accuracy and ease of testing, and it's fun to boot. Between the test kit, some chlorine jugs at the Pinch a Penny off...

    Ordered TF100 w/magnetic stirrer...tips???

With regards to your magnetic stirrer, you'll actually WANT to test, not because you have to. I've tested random water samples just to use the stirrer. Increased reagent consumption will occur. You've been warned. :whoot:

Pebble Finish - Trouble Maintaining pH / TA

Morning! Our pebble remodel was completed at the end of June. Since then, I've been testing the water daily for pH and FC and a full panel weekly. Prior to the pebble remodel, I would utilize maybe a bottle of acid once a year. Since the remodel, I've gone through about 20 lbs of Baking Soda...

    Yellow pH with Red TA

It was applied last Monday. They performed what looked like an acid wash with wands the same day. On Wednesday, they came out and acid washed with a sprayer and began the fill process. Thursday and Friday the PB came out and balanced. Those two evenings I ran all TFT tests and found that...

    Yellow pH with Red TA

After dumping about 4 lbs of baking soda, TA now registers 40. Makes sense that they dropped pH way down due to loss of TA. pH test still yellow though. I'm tempted to throw some Borax in tomorrow just so that we can use the pool, then report to the PB Friday. Sent from my Nexus 10 using...
